Abstract: Synthetic Aperture Radar technology, though discovered almost seven decades ago, is still evolving in complexity, newer variations and imaginative processing algorithms. Still SAR technology is very less understood and effective interpretations of SAR images, are still a vast research area. The basic hindrance in this research is still the poorer understanding of SAR system and SAR processing algorithms and the artefacts and peculiarities of SAR imaging process. This lecture will introduce the SAR imaging process in simple way and also take the audience through experiences and understanding derived out of the hands on experiences in bringing India in the forefront of SAR technology.
