  1. Great content again Peter. i watched a film on youtube last night called deep water all about Donald Crowhurst in the first 'round the world golden globe race' of 1968. tragic, gripping, epic! That southern ocean looks Terrifying and isnt for the faint hearted, ill be honest i had no idea about how scary and testing a round the world voyage actually is!!
So my question to you Peter, is are you a little bit apprehensive about what you are heading into? scared? excited? all of those things?
at first i admired you due to the longevity of your journey, but now i realise its not only boredom and solitude that you have to overcome, Rather elements that most of us will never ever come up against.
I fully understand if you dont want to spill your feelings in reply to a comment, but at the same time, id love to know if you have any fear over the elements you may encounter?

  2. LOVE this video Peter, thank you. I can see why you love her. When I saw the extra chain plates at the back for a drogue I can see you’ve thought of everything. Wow, you dad looks exactly like your brother Patrick…looks like he’s right in it in GGR. I loved this episode because it’s hard to know what makes solo sailing practical. One question, about the Aries. What do you like most? (Assuming you’re going to say simplicity)…which seems apparent and smart for going around the world. Thanks again and glad to hear you’re feeling better!

  3. Thank you for the tour. I really enjoyed that and love her lines as well. I’d love to learn more about your navigation and electrical generation. Specifically what kind of tablet you use? What kind of software? Does your AIS stand alone or integrate? Same with the weather? How much power can you generate? What kind of batteries do you use? I really admire what you’re doing here. Thank you. I love seeing this adventure through your eyes.

  4. Do you have any tips as to where to find the knowledge to integrate the instruments at the chart table in a feasible way? How does one figure out how to get information onto the iPad or whatever.

  5. Wow wonderful video. I am glad you posted as on every video I am always peeking around and trying to see how you are set up. You have a lot to be proud of, all your knowledge, past experience and a wonderful boat. Glad you are feeling better, being ill is a reminder to us how blessed we are that it is just a passing thing and to some it is not. Looking forward to the next episode!

  6. Hi Peter, where did you manage to fit your waste tank. Probably not one of the major attractions on a boat tour. Also how do you find the empty out facility at the marinas you visit and are you finding more marinas insisting on having your tank emptied on arrival.

  7. Hi Peter! Nice boat you got! The high bow is a big advantage for going into high seas and so she´s sailing relativly dry. I got the same with my little Contest 28, so no stress with too much showers in the cockpit. Have a nice trip further on and greetings from Germany!

  8. Thank you. I’ve learned so much about Waxwing with this video. Are you still using old school paper navigation as backup? It sounded like you had just one Iridium for all your navigation?
As a former TV engineer, redundancy is a big deal as it is for you!
    Again, thanks!

  9. Peter, does the Aries rudder work independently from your main rudder. I always assumed it does. But your lines from it to your wheel got me thinking. Then I saw your orange Aries rudder hinged up and thought, surely that is not big enough (when compared to your main rudder) to guide your ship.

Amazed at your gadgetry on Waxwing. Obviously years of experience went into that lot, and the modifications you made to your interior.

She is a beautiful boat as she bobs up and down at anchor! ⛵️
