Rise of the Ronin Gameplay Breakdown – Open World Action RPG by Team Ninja
Rise of the Ronin is an upcoming Open World ARPG being developed by Team Ninja, the creators of the extremely successful Nioh and Ninja Gaiden series. The game has generated a significant amount of hype for around a year now, since the official announcement trailer back in 2023 during Playstation’s State of Play livestream. It looks to be Team Ninja’s magnum opus, with a total of over 7 years in development (since 2017), the better part of a decade ago, and the year Team Ninja released Nioh.

looking forwards to the pc release, so for me it won't collide with Dragons Dogma 🙂
God that grappling hook to paragliding looks so good for traversal, something I’ve wanted for Ghost Of Tsushima or a AC game.
I hope this is more like Nioh and les like wo long. I also hope there is more weapons than what was listed in the video as well as magic closer to Nioh and less Wo Long.
As cool as this looks and sounds I will be passing on launch in favor of Dragons Dogma 2! Wish Ronin a successful launch tho! GLHF all!
After the LoTF debacle I’m not going to trust souls CCs. I’ll be waiting for DF’s review before I buy this one. Also haven’t forgotten Wo long’s release.
How does an isolationist country have such a bustling port city?
The problem with the way they design their combat animations is as if every character is a straw weight and the attacks seems like it doesn't have weight to them. Compared it other AAA exclusives and the difference is jarring and breaks immersion.
Please do a video essay on star wars outlaws
Has everybody forgotten how Wo Long released on launch? Disaster performance across the board and this can easily be attributed to the fact that Team Ninja is forced by the publisher to churn out yearly releases. I’d like to be excited for this but this is supposed to be a PS5 exclusive? It looks like a late PS3 exclusive with higher pixel count. Don’t get me wrong, graphics are not a defining aspect of gaming for me but when I consider last year Wo Long released with subpar graphics and dogshit performance on PS5, I have little optimism for this be delivered in better state than Wo Long did. What’s even more baffling, Nioh 2 has great performance so I’m even more confused they are not able to deliver the same polish in their subsequent games.
oh for sure bro japan totally turned into a blossoming democracy after gunboat diplomacy lmfao that is so famously what happened to japan bro that's what the west brought to japan bro such good democracy bro nice bro
Hasn’t been seen before by Team Ninja? What about Ninja Gaiden??
i hope we can create a char and not play as some random char
So is combat more like Nioh than it is Ghost of Tsushima?
Obei fraction supports the west? Sounds about right. 😂
Though to be fair, I thought Americans enslaved them after the nuke.
RIP Matthew Perry
I honestly don't like what I see here.
These genre in-betweeners rarely turn out to be any good.
They wanted to make the game stylistically like Nioh, but not really.
They wanted to have a branching storyline, but without much branching.
They wanted a precision combat akin Ghost of Tsushima, but they made it hack and slashy.
They allow you to create and level up our own character, but they won't give us an rpg.
They're using historical figures, but they don't commit to it.
I don't know. It could be a decent game, but they strayed away too much from something like Nioh.
Souls-like suits them fine.
Looks mid. The graphics look like ps4. Wo Long was their last game and that was mid too. Im worried about this
did you guys see the steam logo in the bottom i hope it comes to pc man
"From the creators of nioh" thats all i needed to hear. Its not for me
Story will be shitty and gameplay rocks. Like nioh 2 or wo long ( also from team ninja right?)
1:09 My boy Matthew C. Perry , in da house. whoop , whoop 😜😜😜
Rise of the Ronin first, dragons dogma next
Why all the new samurai games PS exclusive?
i do hope the gameplay is like ghost of ts
ushima, because i sucked at nioh
Dragon's Dogma wins… So I'll check this game in a later date
I just hope it has a badass soundtrack during the battles…
I watched that whole thing, only to learn it's (supposedly) NOT coming to PC 😂 I hate this exclusivity bullshit.
I'm so glad this is NOT coming to ps4. It's about time that studios start rewarding the people who spent $500with true exclusives. I'm pretty sure I'll be moving to PC after this cycle anyways but it's still nice.
I think that the PS exclusivity will both help and hinder the short and long term success of this game.
On one hand, it will not have to compete directly with Dragons Dogma 2 because it isn’t being distributed on all platforms. It just has competition on one platform, and due to the lower production costs because of only having to make the game for a single console, it doesn’t need to sell quite as many copies as DD2.
On the other hand, DD2 will always be more popular due to the much larger pool of customers and opportunities to advertise the game. This could lead to people on PS to buy DD2 just to be a part of the hype train that DD2 has going for it.
This is similar to what happened with Elden Ring and God of War. There was no way to justify GOW winning GOTY because it did not make the splash that ER did, nor has it lasted as long in the public consciousness. ER fans are still waiting and clamoring for news about the dlc and making lore videos. I don’t even get new GOW content in my recommendations anymore.
Sadly, I think Ronin is going to suffer a similar fate. It will burn hot and fast, then fade away as the only people talking about it are people with PlayStations.
i hope its not too arcadey but it looks good
Can’t wait for this! Team Ninja and Fromsoftware make the best games imo
Thats finna be a rough month hahah
Man but do wanna play another samurai set in X period game.
I’m waiting for the sale.
Once again Xbox and PC get slighted for the open world samurai games.
1st ghost of tsushima, now this.
Guess im buying a PS5
I had no idea it was coop, I'm more interested now
You lost me at PS5 exclusive… that means we'll probably get another shitty bare bones Team Ninja PC port in like 2 years. That's disappointing
It's crazy how Nioh 1 takes place prior to the Tokugawa rule and this game will take place towards the end of their rule.
Is it going to be souls like/ nioh like fighting difficulty?
…. Cool, but can i just play Nioh 3?
