Richard Madeley Grills Yvette Cooper on Labours Plan to Scrap the Rwanda Bill

After two years, the Rwanda bill has finally passed parliament, with Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, saying that his focus is now to get flights off the ground. The Labour Party has branded the bill a gimmick and said it is unworkable, maintaining that they would scrap the plan should they win the general election this year.

Richard Madeley questions Shadow Home Secretary Yvette Cooper over whether sheโ€™s โ€˜worried about alienatingโ€™ some Labour voters by scraping the Rwanda bill if they were elected.

  1. So while boats still come across, they know the 300 are already chosen from those that are here. So hows that being a deterence.
    300m for 300 immigrants, 1m each..what deterent is this, its a joke..

Is the police investigating the tory parties accounts after menzies taking money from the tory funds. This should be investigated to see what has been taken by untrustworthy tories.
Why is rayner different from menzies corruption

  2. Some of these comments are amazing. I've seen a few that didn't even know that part of the deal is us also taking refugees from Rwanda. Wholeheartedly supporting something you don't understand just to be cruel to immigrants is peak gammon brain. It'd be funny if they weren't wasting hundreds of millions that could be better spent on things like our crumbling NHS.

  3. I predict they will now travel by night and our beeches will be littered with abandoned inflatables and we will then have no idea how many have come over, but this be reported as numbers are down. There will then develop be a network of buildings to hide these people in again supplied by the people smugglers who will be taking more money for doing so.

  4. Yvette Cooper and the Labour leadership donโ€™t have a Plan to deal with this enormous problem. What is Labourโ€™s plan to stop the boats, we have yet to hear what they will do.

  6. Cooper you are typical labour all for migrants not the british people … whine about the cost yet never take into account the money illegal migrants are costing and have costed since 2019 Labour have no policy other than reword an old policy. Take into account the cost of Tony Blair's open door policy to the British public. Oh he was Labour.

  8. To think these people are paid for what most people perceive is a very good wage. They are so banal and pedestrian. Pseudo journalists snd Richard Madeley his usual bombastic rude ignorant self. Perhaps it is time to employ someone younger and less partisan.

  12. Cooper spouting nonsense as usual. They are going to spend money on smashing smuggling gangs. If they knock one gang out, another one will take it's place and on and on it goes.
God help us if Labour get in with their front bench bunch of nutcases
