Rhapsody: Marl Kingdom Chronicles VIDEO REVIEW

Hearkening back to the JRPG days of yore, Rhapsody: Mark Kingdom Chronicles comes to remind us that not all JRPGs have to be earth-shattering, mountain moving spectacle fests, and that there’s joy to be found in just finding your fairytale prince! Thank you to NIS for gifting me this game to share with you all!

  1. Hey Joe ! I didn't knw about those games, so I greatly appreciate you doing this review. It's, like you said, refreshing to see old school games, strangely. I feel so many games nowadays have the same kinda souls that I like to go back and play some oldies to have fun like when I was a kid ! I may check this Marl Kingdom Chronicles.
As usual, thanks for the video, and see ya next time !

  2. I always feel so conflicted when people complain about Japanese RPG tropes.

On one hand, sure, I guess I can see why. Tropes, as overly generalized as they tend to be, usually have some basis of truth to them. And yeah, a lot of the big name brands tend to do some amount of those. Some for grandiose reasons, some just due to Japanese norms and beliefs structuring how their stories and messages are told.

But on the other, I've played enough, both classic and modern, that largely avoid them. Which leads to me getting puzzled on why they are points people always feel the need to bring up. Like the whole fighting god thing when there are so many that don't do that.

It's like a self-fulfilling prophecy at this point.
