  1. This had me so excited, until I saw what the characters look like in the recent reveal. Holy shit, my expectations for this dropped through the floor. If it turns out good, I will be absurdly surprised.

  7. Say what you want about the character design.

    But the backgrounds, or scenes, never looked that bad. Not even in the first game.

    Not everything has to be overly designed and warped. Who in their right mind saw this corporate artstyle and thought "yeah, this is what Monkey Island needs"?

    How do those character designs climb those stairs? Why are the colors so… off?

    Why is there no texture? Why does this look like a Weebls Stuff Flash cartoon from 2002? Actually my bad, there was stuff on newgrounds on 2002 that was better animated.

    Why do faces look like the furniture? Why does Guybrush have a penis on his face?

    Why are they animated so lazily? Wow, the third game came out in 1997 and the animations were superb.

    Insult swordfights didn't look that bad in 1990. Like not even close.

    And finally… Just… why? Why is criticism of this not allowed?

Monkeys Island was the First PC Game i ever played, sitting with my Father in Front of the Computer for half an hour a day is a childhood memory i'll always gonna cherish and Made me a superfan of Monkeys Island for Sure… So when i Heard Theres going to be a new one, Made by all the original creators and its coming Out this year, that was Like a dream come true that i never thought was even a possibility! Super excited and cant wait! And don't Listen to all those sad Internet people complaining about Art Style Changes and all that, i think it Looks great and appreciate that you want to evolve rather than Just Feed my nostalgia… i'll Put some rootbeer in the fridge for the Release, thank you 🙂

I guess my comment will get deleted or shadow banned for wrong think but when I heard the artwork for the new game was terrible compared to the old games I went and had a look for myself before posting an opinion (yes, people still do that) and I see now why most people are unhappy. I honestly didn't know the artwork was this bad. Ron Gilbert said he'd never make another Monkey Island game, maybe he shouldn't have but the entertainment industry is more about failing upwards now rather than banking on nostalgia to emptying wallets.

  40. Man, I really, really, REALLY want to like the art style, but I just really don't. In fact, I think I hate it. I'm a huge fan of the franchise and I'm incredibly happy that this game will happen at all, it's certainly great news, but I wouldn't mind a huge delay so they can change the art
