Retrograde | Official Trailer | National Geographic Documentary Films

RETROGRADE captures the final nine months of America’s 20-year war in Afghanistan from multiple perspectives: one of the last U.S. Special Forces units deployed there, a young Afghan general and his corps fighting to defend their homeland against all odds, and the civilians desperately attempting to flee as the country collapses and the Taliban take over. From rarely seen operational control rooms to the frontlines of battle to the chaotic Kabul airport during the final U.S. withdrawal, Oscar-nominated and Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Matthew Heineman’s latest film offers a cinematic and historic window onto the end of America’s longest war, and the costs endured for those most intimately involved. 1. I guess the US Government & Big Pharma hit their long-term quota & no longer need to manufacturer an internal war that hides the corrupt trafficking of opium poppy & other Afghan resources 😡

  3. We had a conditional withdrawal set up under Trump, that Biden let deteriorate into a retreat that left behind patriots and military equipment as well as leave a large portion of the population vulnerable to extremists.

  5. I’m a veteran, US Air Force. I know the US military has done a lot of good but it is also done a lot of bad, and how we treated Afghanistan and its people during our withdrawal was shameful and outright. Inhuman.

  6. There are a lot if not almost all beautiful people in that country that also must have full human self rights and freedom to express themselves. Its sad but its all gone in reverse now.

  7. I was able to attend an advanced screening of the the film when one of the executive producers, Baktash Ahadi, came to my town for a visit. All of the accolades given to the film speak the truth. Retrograde tells a powerfully tragic story and it reminds us that the story is ongoing. Incredibly moving and unforgettable, an experience that must be felt. As many as possible should see this film.

  8. This is a great persecution of Afghans by America and its allies. The question is, why did you come to Afghanistan? And why did you leave? Was Afghanistan your playground? You made millions of people unemployed, and people with migration and life problems, who should be asked the answer to all these people?

  9. I hear a lot of big words. Afghanistan people have to learn to fight for freedom. All those deaths, for nothing. If the will is strong, Afghanistan will be set free. Or else it will suffer tyranny.
