In this video I carry out a sympathetic restoration on this extremely old writerβs bureau. We know it is at least 80 years old. The memories attached to this piece of furniture are very precious to the owner.
I will leave the dings and surface scratches whilst refinishing and locking in itβs history so it can go on to last another 80 years plus.
There are many repairs to make. Join me on itβs journey to a new life.

Nice result, thanks for posting.
Already creased at the intro π
Good job! I enjoy watching your videos in Florida, USA. I live near a beach too but mine is warmer I expect and has palm trees. ππ΄
Wonderful job β€
π’β€ lovely restoration xxx
wow great job as always im sorry ur not feeling good..hope spring will have you back bouncing again with those adorbale pups!!!!
Beautiful job!
Wow. So wonderful to see such care & respect given to this wonderful piece of furniture. All pieces from the past, especially a writing desk, should keep all of it's stories for us to remember or imagine, and share fondly. Thank you from Ontario, Canada
Hello again!! I'm sorry that you were so sick. I just had a feeling that something wasn't right. I hope you're completely well by now. I have to say, your intro really made me laugh!! So did Sully!! He's quite the athlete. Now, onto the desk…. This made me so emotional. Not quite sure why. I absolutely loved that you didn't completely restore this piece to make it look brand new. You did the right amount of badly needed repairs, and retained the original finish. Brava!!! It turned out quite beautiful, and yet it retained so many memories of it's past. You really did an awesome job, and as always, I can't wait for your next video. Stay well, my friend.
Hope you get back to full health soon. Thought you were talking about me in your intro, never thinking it would be your self.
Lovely sympathetic repair and fleshing up. Loved your thinking out of the box when using matchsticks. Loved it all
Amazing Restoration! It's Nice to see a piece that Looks Great without having to be Completely Stiripped down. Frolicking Pups!
Hi I really hope you are feeling better today π It sounds like the bug that has been doing the rounds up here kids PA/Carers have been ill with it too. Doesn't want to let go does it π’
What a beautiful very sympathetic restoration that was π absolutely beautiful π I am sure your friend was delighted with the results π
Intro was funny in an ironic way I knew you were going to say it was about you π mind with that bug I bet it has got you that way π’thats my normal week ππ
Sully is definitely a very bouncy puppy πππ

You have done such a good job with this piece. Thank you for retaining the finish. I think your idea of using the match sticks is brilliant! Thank you for showing us how it is done.
Awesome job keep them coming
I'm sure that the grandmother is smiling down upon you now. You have restored this to a piece that anyone would be proud to own! I treasure even the smallest item that any ancestor previously owned–a piece of furniture, an old coin and an old cookbook to name a few.
Beautifully done β€
I hope you feel better soon. π
That looks fantastic – a treasured heirloom for your friend to enjoy,
Stunning. β€

Your sympathic restoration was perfect and the drawer pulls are lovely with some of the patina left. I thoroughly enjoyed this video and as always, clips of your pups. I wish you continued health and look forward to your next video. Cheers from the Finger Lakes of NY !! π· π·
