Resident Evil Villains Megamix Part 1

Dr. James Marcus (RE 0): “Watch You Crawl” by RED
You never forget your first experiences, and RE0 still holds the crowning title of my favourite RE game. Compared to a lot of other antagonists, Marcus has a lot going for him. Being one of the three founders of the Umbrella company, revived after being betrayed by his business partner, it’s really interesting seeing how he was the one that started the T-Virus outbreak. It makes the story of Umbrella and its downfall a lot more rounded. Overall, a very nice antagonist to start off the Resident Evil Timeline.

Lisa Trevor (RE 1 Remake): “The Void” by Nine Lashes
I think Lisa is really evocative of Resident Evil’s story-telling. Sometimes you don’t need long cutscenes to make an interesting character. Most of her story is told through notes littered throughout the game, which tells a neat, compelling story. A victim of Umbrella, she the most successful test subject on the progenitor virus. Becoming immortal from the experiments, she stalks the woods, searching for her parents and seeking revenge on Umbrella. Her actual appearances help accentuate it, especially with her final confrontation with Wesker, and her ties to what would eventually become the G-Virus.

T-00 (RE 2): “Invincible” by Disturbed
Commonly called Mr. X, this beast is genuinely one of the best stalker-type enemies in modern gaming. While lacking in personality, he makes up for it in presence. A finished model of the bio-weapon known as the Tyrant, intended to track and eliminate any and all targets. I think this revamp ultimately brought him from being a recurring monster, to a killing machine that will NEVER stop pursuing you.

Dr. William Birkin (RE 2): “Figure.09” by Linkin Park
Birkin is one of the most compelling characters in Resident Evil. While he’s definitely responsible for propagating Umbrella and it’s inhumane actions, the way he is constantly used as a pawn for someone else adds a great layer of tragedy to his story. It takes an entirely new light when he mutates, losing any sense of free will, as his virus controls him. Birkin never had any real control over the life he wanted to live, not even his greatest work could spare him.

Nicolai Zinoviev (RE 3): “You’re Going Down” by Sick Puppies
Nicolai is one of the most irredeemable characters in the Resident Evil Franchise. Alias the Silver Fox, he is a member of the counter-measures force against any outbreaks. Secretly, he is tasked with analyzing the combat data of Bio-Weapons, through any means necessary. He takes this to the maximum, by betraying his colleagues, and letting civilians get caught in the crossfire. The RE universe has many pure evil characters, Nicolai is definitely one of the most notable.

Alfred Ashford (RE Code Veronica): “Die For You” by Otherwise
Of all the characters in this video, I feel for Alfred the most. Isolated from his only family at the age of 12, forced to wait for the return of his sister after 15 years, his coping mechanism was becoming his sister. It’s really sad seeing how this clearly broken man is strewn along circumstances he is unable to understand, and it’s all because he wants to be a good brother. In the end, no matter what he wanted, he was just seen as a disposable foot soldier to his own family.

Alexia Ashford (RE Code Veronica): “Pound of Flesh” by Janus
Alexia Ashford is terrifying. She embodies a Queen Ant, governing an impressive virus with little to no effort. Add in flaming blood, as well as a complete disregard for anyone else and you’ve got yourself a terrifying monster.

Javier Hidalgo (Darkside Chronicles: Operation Javier): “Evolve” by Shinedown
Javier is a pretty serviceable antagonist. I really like how much he understood the Veronica Virus, choosing to experiment on his weak-willed daughter with it, while trusting in his own abilities. I almost prefer this, dangerous man instead of his final form being a giant spider-crocodile thing.

Morpheus D. Duvall (RE Dead Aim): “Anti-You” by Blue Stahli
I have mixed feelings on Morpheus. I think there’s a lot there to make an interesting character, but there’s not much that’s really done. It sucks too because you can do a lot with the motivation being vanity and beauty. This is one of the games I think should be remade, because I’d love to see if Morpheus would be used as ‘fall guy’ for Umbrella, with Morpheus planning to take revenge.

Sergei Vladimir (Umbrella Chronicles: Umbrella’s End): “Stand For Something” by Skindred
Of the characters in this video, Sergei is probably my favourite. He has all the essential elements of a good RE villain: The motivation, the personality, and especially the design. I love how they wrote his rivalry with Wesker, and had him be the basis for the tyrants. I really hope Umbrella’s End can be adapted into a proper game, it would give a lot of closure

Nemesis (RE3): “Unstoppable” by Disturbed
Do I really need to say anything? He’s awesome!
