Resident Evil Retrospective | Blood And Cheese

The fact Capcom’s incredible Resident Evil released in 1996, more than 26 years ago, is absolutely mind boggling.

Not only did Resident Evil popularise the survival horror genre and introduce the series formula still used to this day, but it did so when 3D gaming was very much in its infancy.

Resident Evil is a brutal, terrifying and often cheesy experience, and its impact on the gaming landscape cannot be understated.

  1. I recently played RE2 remake for the first time and am currently playing the RE3 Remake. These games are fun as hell. Can’t wait to check out RE4 Remake and the original game.

  2. 41:00 Been replaying the 96 one on PC and PSX a lot these past weeks and only now after all these years have I noticed how amazing the soundtrack is. The save room theme, the gallery puzzle room completion stinger, the upper mansion theme, the mansion basement theme that has those awesome stings throughout. Also the frantic disorienting boss themes. Such a memorable electric sound of industrial drones and unsettling melodies. That in mind, it's quite strange that replacing it for the Dual Shock edition even crossed their minds at all. Replacing it with that awful noise is nothing short of a crime. Also, Chris's campaign in directors cut on arranged mode, with the million added hunters, can suck my….😁.

  3. Ah man, scariest game in the 90's easy. Watching my bro play it, it kept me awake at night but was so good I kept watching.
Also crazy how only 5 years later we got a remake on GameCube and the graphical leap was enormous

  4. 31:20 please please make a video detailing all the deviations of scenes in RE1. Pleaaase

Btw, if yoi trigger the scene where the kenneth-eating zombie indepdently enters the dining room, then not only do you miss out of Kenneths items (they will have disappeared) but the zombie will have eaten MORE of Kenneth! His corpse will be just half a torso

  5. I was obsessed with Resi. At one point, I regarded the mansion incident and the fall of Racoon City with the same level of gravitas as mythology.

Undoubtedly the remake is better, but this original still holds a place in my heart
