I’ve been getting comments about covering Resident Evil mods for a very long time, and I’ve dabbled in a few, but today we’re diving face first into the word of user made, survival horror goodness. We’ll touch on the obvious heavy hitters like Classic Rebirth and Seamless HD, but rest assured if you’re into an RE mod, there’s a solid chance you’ll get to see it here. If not, I owe you $748,000.

  1. Thanks for including Mortal Night, DTS and Kendo's Cut! I'm the main guy behind those, and you'll only have to wait for a few months before I drop my best mod yet ;). Let's just say that my previous ones are boring and primitive compared to it. Also, for those commenting that DTS is cancelled, it's kiiiiinda true, but I'll very likely finish it in the near future.

  2. I've got an extraordinarily stupid question.

I got into RE with the RE1 remake, and would really like to play the original three. I know hardly anything about computers (and don't own one), but I have a friend I'm planning on playing them with who does.

The only problem is that I've never had any luck with the tank controls. I know everyone says they enhance the experience, but they're just not my thing, and my time available for video games is scarce enough I'd rather not spend time struggling to move. I do really want to experience those older games though. Are there mods out there for adding the 'alternate' control scheme like the 2002 remake has?

  3. Great spotlight on mods, I wish more fans were made aware of these kinds of projects. I'd highly recommend checking out the BioRand mod for the classic trilogy games if you get the time. Cheers man

  4. The video was great and I'm glad that there were no nudity mods included, made by nasty old dudes sitting in their mom's basement.

I'm always disgusted at the amount of such mods for pretty much every possible game.

  5. Nice review!, although since im a little bit of a speedrunner sometimes on the OG REs i prefer 100% the classic rebirths and the seamless hd mods of CR really helped boost up the mood of the OGs on PC, and the access to mods on tje pc is greatly appreciated, ALSO RE:Containment recently had a new and final episode released which is so damn good(spoiler u can get to fight hunk on a "Knives Only" affair) and it has voice acting added from the previous up to the latest episodes, Aydan Watkins really and Loboto really revived the OG RE games and i hope they do more, FYI last mod to mention which you haven't added theres a mod for RE3 CR that you can the player CAN PLAY AS THE NEMESIS, i hope you check that one out, i had a lot of fun kicking ass as nemesis.

If I remember right, Re3 SHD's inventory icons often bare little resemblance to what's in the original game (for instance, the Benelli M3 becomes an airsoft shotgun with a detachable box mag for some reason). If that's the case nothing of value is lost in not using their icon replacements.

  7. Great video! Would definitely recommend the RE2 mod "The Origin of Species", it's sorta the "Lord of Necropolis" but for RE2 (Same creator and all).
Alongside this I would 100% check out BioRand, an incredible project on it's own that has given a ton of replayability to these games for a lot of people.

  8. Speaking of Resident Evil, I sure hope the original Resident Evil gets the remake treatment soon. The GameCube version just doesn't quite cut it anymore when compared to the recent remakes. Imagine a Reboot game today. It would look exactly like the show.

  9. I appreciate how thorough you've been with this retrospective. I'm sure it started out as a comprehensive overview of the games, themselves, but you going into detail on the tech details, ports, and mods has elevated this series of videos to the stratosphere. Definitely the best series on RE on YouTube.

  10. Speedrunner Note: For RE2 Classic Rebirth, you have to wait 1.5 secs to skip doors (listen for the click) or you will get sluggish load times like this otherwise, 1 & 3 do not suffer from this, it's just a quirk of 2CR door skip

  11. Surprised you didn't talk about the Resident Evil 2 Reborn mod for the OG RE4 since not only was that a cool mod, that mod might of helped pushed back into the limelight due to how much it likely influenced the offical remake. Perhaps it'll show up in a part 2?
