Resident Evil 6 Remake – 10 Things Capcom NEED To Change For The Remake!

On this episode of Nerd Space Games I take a look at probably the most controversial game of the RE series, Resident Evil 6. With the success of Resident Evil 4 Remake & teases of a Resident Evil 5 Remake around the corner, it’s only a matter of time before we possibly see Capcom’s shot at a 2nd chance with Resident Evil 6 with it’s own remake. The real question is what can Capcom do differently to redeem this game. Well, I give my personal opinions and thoughts on what changes I think Capcom should make to the remake. Rather it be getting rid of Co-Op or just adding Survival Horror elements to the game, there is so much Capcom can do differently this time and I wanted to give my opinions on what changes are most needed.

  1. Resident Evil 6 was actually my first RE game, and honestly I enjoyed it, enough that it hooked me on the series since then, I've even got the platinums for RE2 Remake, RE3 Remake, RE4 Remake (and all the trophies of the original, which sadly has no platinum), RE5, RE6 and RE Revelations 2. I know RE6 isn't perfect by a long shot, but I had fun playing the whole thing the first time, that being said if I replay it, I usually do either Leon or Chris' campaign depending on how I'm feeling.

  2. I played RE 4 back in PS 2, when I was really young and it introduces me to the franchise, however 6 is the one that made me fall in love with the franchise.

I personally love 3 stories going at the same times and they cross path once in a certain points. It inspired me to one day write a story. People can hate 6 all they like but it still remain my favorite.

  3. Honestly a lot of your points sound like a different game entirely, you understand the point of a remake is that it largely follows the same path, the path of RE6 was a global journey, seeing BOWs around the world, the president literally says "Bio-organic Weapons are a global threat, and we are largely to blame". That's the point.

  4. Everything about RE6 need to be remade. Completely remake the game as a whole. Tone down the action heaviness and just the way the game plays. Rough year for RE. I hated having to play multiple stories. Just make it one solid story with one specific character. And as far as co-op. RE5 had much better co-op and I had more fun on RE5 as a whole then I did on 6.

  5. You do not want a remake you want and entire new game based on your own personal likes while not taking into consideration what those changes would mean for other fans of this game. People are already upset about some of these remakes cutting out content that was in the originals. So clearly what they should do is take out features like coop, cut entire campaigns and get rid of major characters. You should never ever be in charge of remaking a resident evil game.

  6. I feel like Re6 gets too much hate. To be honest with you, it is a good and fun game. Sorta of enjoyed some plot. The only thing is not a great survivor horror game. But I can say Re5 and Re4 are also not great survivors horror games either. Re6, for me, controls better than og Re4 and Re5. I am saying Re6 is the best Re game? No. However it not my least favorite one either. It just middle ok Re game with some interesting plot. Combat is fun action horror game. The scare factor of Re games ended for me since Re code veronica. The only Re game with scared factor of the originals was Re village with the fetus. That was really mild at best.

  7. I don’t like how people shit all over 6 without first shitting on 4 for starting the entire tonal shift in the franchise. 6 was the logical end after what 4 started.

I had 4 on the Cube when it dropped and was a veteran of the original games. I liked it, but 4 shifted from survival horror to action horror.

Hot take: 4 is not a masterpiece. It’s a harbinger.

  8. Am I the only one who thinks remaking 5 and 6 is kind of just excessive? Like maybe in the far future yea but it seems like a waste of resources to just remake the newer ones. The only ones who nEED a remake are code Veronica and 0, a 1 remake would be awesome but we don’t need it either (I would love one tho) 5 I understand I guess but once again in the far future, six however I believe should stay in the grave

  9. This is my issue, this is why we do not see interesting dynamics because y’all can’t stand having what? 3 stories? You don’t even have to play all of them. We luckily got some interactions with characters with Death Island and that wasn’t even that mind blowing. Resident 6 needs just more horror focus.

  10. 4, 5 and 6 took a different turn from the originals. They need to bring back survival horror, they need to bring back exploring and doing puzzles. Those were the best part of the games along with the story. And one things that urked me was when they started making the games In daylight. Even in re 1 og they had lights on in the mansion and it was still creepy. You could take the resident evil name out of re7 and it would still be a good horror game. But I didn't love 5 and 8 and that's possibly because they made it during daylight

  11. So basically you don't want a RE6 remake, just a totally new game. Cause your suggestions will just completely change that game and it won't even be recognizable

  12. I think they should combine elements of Code Veronica, 5, and 6 in the remakes. Veronica sounded like an ending but the ending was like "Okay now we're going to the end battle, roll credits." Have 5 be the last stand for Umbrella on an island in Africa, and break up 6 into several games that all set up 7.

  13. 6 had potential. The start of the Leon chapters was very much a Survival Horror section,(minus the bactracking) but swiftly turned into a highspeed action game…

To successfully remake 6, there are only five steps they need to take.

    1: Slower Paced, larger Levels.
2: Better writing and dialoge, especially for The Chris Campaign. Actually make us CARE when peirs dies.
3: more content, as each campaign is a bit short.
4: co-op returns, but that Linked Game online crossover Co-op garbage, where 4 players playing different storylines group up for certain boss fights, that needs to be gone.
5: less Focus on Action, with each Section having Explorable areas and Puzzles.

These Five steps could Fix the game.

Also, Co-op Survival horror is EASILY done… the characters can be split up, still working together, but not always teamed up. I mean, imagine 0, but with co-op instead of the Zapping System? That would have been great. Plus, imagine Co-op puzzles that need both players to solve.
Or The original game in co-op, but player one Is Jill and player two is Chris, doing their seperate Storylines, but with team up sections.

Look at Revelations 2. Thats a Damn good Co-op Survival Horror.

  14. I mean…you're basically just saying remake RE6 but make it a completely different game than what it originally was. With all the cuts and changes suggested here, it would just make more sense to make a different installment.

  15. I only played a little bit of RE6. There was too much going on. I agree that this game should get a remake with only two campaigns instead of three. Everything you said in this video would make for a great remake.

  16. I like ur video but some things I don’t agree with making it a Chris and Leon campaign doesn’t make since up less u remake the game from the ground up and jake campaign was the best so so besides Leon I think the campaign should be leon. And Helena and sherry and jake because there not that many super humans around beside rose in the younger generation Chris really didn’t have much to do with the story other then saving civilians helping sherry and stopping a bow they didn’t even meet simminons they spent half of the game chasing fake Ada Chris should be like dlc with Ada because both there story take place months apart and they both have similar goals

  17. And I’m kinda picky about the puzzles I don’t think they should bring them back but if they do I don’t want it be overly complicated like re1 and 0 and I agree get rid of the co op not because it takes away the horror element but it makes them cut corners and rush the game out from product and some sections were clunky but not as bad as re5 that was just trash I couldn’t even buy it re 6 was way better despite its flaws and using jake as a enemy was way out of line ur probably saying that because he’s wesker son and he way to strong and way to kool and can beat bow with his bare hands

  18. So to be clear, for the remake of Resident Evil 6, you want… A different setting, a different set of characters in focus, the removal of co-op, different antagonists, different combat mechanics, and you want that all set…. In a different genre.

That's not a remake of Resident Evil 6, it's a completely different game.

  19. Look Resident Evil 6 was much more fun than people on the internet say it was. No it was hardly a Resident Evil game, it was third person call of duty zombies, but it tried to advance the story and did a pretty good job of that at least. And it was honestly fun to play and the shooting mechanics were unique even for this series, and I wouldn’t be upset to see something similar from a remake of 6

  20. Nobody do not want to stay to tame place throughout the game going to different places in a game a different experience. Enjoyment example Resident Evil 1 original Mansion session the greenhouse session laboratory session that's it😮. The Tall Oaks part not going to work one location ain't going to work two characters campaign only we have enough of that has is. More campaign more the better more ending no knife meter Co-op stays.?😮

  21. I think co op can stay for resident evil 6 if you’d want it but if you’d select single player then the second character isn’t there or goes off to do something. However the Carla concept I like I think she needs to be partnered with Simmons and they are both framing Ada so we get Ada as Leon’s support where he’s trying to stop the virus but also to prove Ada’s innocence. As we all know Ada secrecy is a great excuse for her to not be their except at key times if you select single player.

  22. RE5 and RE6 needs to bring back the safe haven/typewriter areas back. I’m glad you said good things about RE0 and I think it deserves a remake as well included with RE1 second remake as a reimagining since they both take place a day apart. I think Sherry and Jake’s campaign could work if they were inexperienced like how Leon/Claire and Jill/Chris were their first time because Sherry is younger than the rest of them and they can go through survival horror. Chris’ campaign just needs to be more horrifying and darker and see how his lost men affects his morality about revenge. Every single costume from every game they were in should appear. Story needs to improve and not feel like you se e the same scenes with different characters unless you see from their point of view. RE6 can have the story feel more darker and depressing since it’s a global infection. But what can also work is if each campaign, you are in these locations but you hear the news or others that the whole world is getting infected until the last few chapters. Gameplay can be like RE4make.
