Resident Evil 2 Remake is Survival Horror Perfected | A Platinum Retrospective

After ditching survival horror for a more action focus with Resident Evil 4, Capcom underwent a major reset once they blew their load with the 6th main instalment. And chasing trends from the West.

Finding their way back to horror with Resident Evil 7, meant that all the pieces were in place to reignite the franchise – with some familiar faces, but with a fresh coat of pixels.

  1. No it's fucking not. It's a clusterfuck DEMAKE, and a wet slap in the faces of all of us RE fans that waited 17 years for the RE2 to get THE REmake treatment. And thought we'd get one in 2015.
Generic as hell over-shoulder shooter with both artificial difficulty (auto-balancer + T-800 zombies) and casualization ("mission objectives" on screen, Ink Ribbons are Hard only feature…), and tons of content cuts (OST, most of enemy types, B routes are completely butchered, Zapping barely exists, countless areas gone…), and the remixed stuff is all around worse (every single character and the story, art style is just muddy and dark…). The same kids praising DEm2 usually also shat on the RE3R, which is top tier hypocricy. They're all the same steaming pile of feces.
But of course the dungeaters that "loved" utter embarrassing disaster that was the RE7 would consume this garbage as well. Both of these RE-Engine slops made even RE6 seem like a masterpiece.

  2. The most satisfying about this game is having the location memorized, it felt like rpd just became my second home because of the ambience and the atmosphere of the remake. Like they say ‘history rhymes’ past generation of re fans have memorized the orig re2 rpd. Today, me being part of the new generation of re fandom, I too have memorized the rpd location but in a remake fashion.

  4. As someone who quit social media a couple of years back and has tried taking his life back to the place it felt like it was at in the 90s and 00s, I can relate heavily to the opening monologue in this video about art being described as 'content' and about getting lost in it again. I feel like you get it. Great video, good cut-aways – you've got a new subscriber!
