  1. Hard to imagine that just 20,000 years ago the oceans were 400 feet lower. Not a single coral reef around today survived that. New reefs formed when the oceans rose, 99.99% of that before the industrial revolution. Now grasslands, etc. become submerged, and there's plenty of food for coral reefs to grow. It's a cycle.
