Renewables are ‘not better for the environment’

Page Research Centre Chief Executive Gerard Holland has claimed renewables are “not better for the environment” as they only reduce emissions by “40 per cent”.

“They [renewables] are not cleaner either,” Mr Holland told Sky News Australia.

“Once you factor in the entire lifespan of these installations … you’re only reducing emissions by about 40 per cent than our existing coal fleet.

“At the same time, you’re destroying farmland, you’re destroying our national parks, you’re having these massive buildouts of industrial plants.

“They’re not better for the environment, they’re certainly not cheaper.”

  1. Renewables are damaging the environment , massive land use , ocean industrialisation , killing birds and bats , clearing forests ,,,
and that is not counting the massive waste disposal problems when the turbines and panels are worn out.

  2. I predict that within 20 years, all of these renewables will be inoperable, dismantled, and scattered around the countryside and in landfills, excreting their pollutants and chemicals into the ground, because by then, nuclear energy will be Australia's principal source of energy, and those renewables will be obsolete and proven to be the biggest hoax perpetrated on the Australian people, and the costs of those failed renewables will cause headaches for future governments and future generations.

  3. Australia has all the natural resources to produce cheap energy power, there is no sane reason to be suffering the way Australians are with high costs of energy and everything else.

  4. The true RENEWABLES are gas and oil as the RENEW every four years that are NOT "fossil fuels" as the form in the earth's hot biosphere every four years and are unlikely to ever run out and Australia floats on gas.

The waste from solar and wind farms are more toxic than nuclear.

As Nikola Tesla said ' All peoples everywhere should have free energy sources."… " Electric Power is everywhere present in unlimited quantities and can drive the world's machinery without the need for coal, oil or gas"….

The myth about our dependence on "fossil fuels" was propagated by greedy billionaires.

  5. They end up destroying Forests, Wild Life, Birds, Marine Life, and Farmlands. On top of that they don't produce even a small fraction of Energy which is produced by a Nuclear Power Plant, which Produces (Clean) Energy. 40 Percent Atomic Energy, 30 Percent Gas Energy, 20 Percent Coal and 10 Percent Solar on top of the Roofs of Buildings. Screw Windmills.

  6. Just a way of introducing a new hidden tax.
Truth is people don't want to pay for green when the rest of the world is still burning fossil fuels and worse. We also don't want to pay the 3rd world to go green either, it's not our job and their corrupt leaders just pocket the energy anyway.
It's like the alcohol tax which had to be reduced when people stopped drinking entirely a decade ago. If people truly went green and didn't have electricity at all the government would just find another way of emptying your pockets with some other tax rise.

  7. Renewables are only important if you believe that human induced climate change is destroying our planet. Boofheads nuclear red herring is a joke, the sky news allstars just keep talking shit. The transition to renewables is difficult, Labor are doing it, Boofhead stands on the sidelines mouthing trumpian platitudes hoping Murdoch will get him elected. Dopey, deceitful cxxx.

  8. 50 lightening strikes every second on earth.
We can geoengineer storm clouds and earthquakes yet cannot seem to harness a free god given source?
    Kinetic tidal energy.
    Self perpetuating electro magnetic energy.
    The list is truly endless

  9. Renewables are an Ecological Disaster .. the Landmass Destruction per GW is enormous, not to mention the requirements of Disposal Recycling .. which is a Laugh have not seen any Legislation on this subject

  10. What you are missing in all of this is, 'Who Benefits the most from this renewable energy push'? The manufacturer of the solar panels benefits – who might that be? The manufacturer of the wind generation components benefits – who might that be? And if Australia's energy costs are excessive, then manufacturing anything on home soil becomes uneconomical, forcing Australian consumers to purchase off shore, therefore another country benefits – who might that be? It seems to me that this renewable energy push is actually being, surreptitiously, pushed by the very country that will benefit the most. Perhaps Australian politicians have walked straight into this trap without knowing it!

  11. I have been trolled for saying we need coal and nuclear power for years. Poor Sydney experienced a warm day. We have a week or more 39 plus and the temps go down about 5 degrees if we are lucky during the night. Blackouts are normal in hot weather here. Stop snivelling Sydney siders.

  12. Really Sky, who knew lol. Trying to run a country on windmills and solar panels. It's all by design, just as the covid plandemic farce, lockdown, forced experimental vaccine, Global warming nonsense, the green energy and net 0 insanity, digital currency and ID, cashless society, the list is endless, all part of the WEF globalist great reset agenda 21-30, depopulation by any means, you will own nothing and be happy brigade..for those with critical thinking, All info available on alternative media.
