To this day, at almost 49, should someone attempt to insult me, my go-to is still "I know you are, but what am I?" It's hard to imagine the impact he had on a generation of kids and young adults who were still trying to figure out how to play in life while developing the skills for adulthood. Pee Wee is the adult who refuses to grow up, but he's much loved by everyone he comes into contact with. Refusing to grow up, and instead seeking to turn every moment into an opportunity for playful mayhem, is why Pee Wee Herman became such a cult icon. Paul Reubens will be missed!
