This Thursday, May 4, marks 20 years since one of the strongest tornadoes to ever hit the Kansas City metro ripped through areas to the west and north of Kansas City.

  1. I walked through carriage hills about 20 minutes after the tornado came through, because I lived just up the street. So much devastation. I have a large gallery of photos from that because I was a senior in high school and loved photography.

  2. Grew up in Liberty, was thirteen when this happened. I remember watching from the south end of town as the wall cloud passed over, bringing the tornado with it. The funnel was dark, possibly rainwrapped, but I didn't see the debris it contained until electrical transformers started exploding at the base. The inflow was powerful even from a mile away.
