  1. I witnessed the same thing Roland. 2005 Essence Fest. Frankie Beverly and Maze closed it out. Electric Sliding throughout the Superdome to Joy and Pain then to Before l Let Go. I was on the floor looking up, you mentioned being up top looking down. What a vision to behold. Never seen anything like it before or since. That was 19 years ago, and l'm still AMAZED!!! Frankie Beverly was a true phenomenon and musical prophet! The words, the voice, the music beyond soulful and sheer excellence. Rest easy Frankie Beverly, with much love , respect and admiration! We miss so dearly, and always will. πŸ€πŸ•ŠπŸ§’πŸŽ€πŸŽΆπŸŒΉπŸ˜’

  2. The ministry of his music has touched our culture in a way that nobody else has. The spirit of his music has immersed itself into the social fabric of our lives from the family reunions to the backyard parties and everywhere in between. GOD really blessed us with a jewel of a gentleman in Frankie Beverly. Through free will he embraced his Divine Purpose and shared with love and respect, all he had to give. The beauty of it all is that, we reciprocated our love for him even when he could no longer utter the words of his heart through song. The harvest of his works and deeds were on and popping. He had planted the seeds and had no worries because we would sing the songs for him. It was all love! We just wanted him to be present with that thigh slapping groove of his. Although the flowers of heaven have no match or comparison, I’m so very proud of how we showed our love and gave him his flowers while he was with us. We showed up, he witnessed it and GOD saw it all. The messages of love he has shared, will forever be embedded in our culture. Job well done! To everybody’s favorite Uncle of music, I bid you farewell my brother, with a vouching prayer of love to GOD ALMIGHTY and the Heavens above. You have been the most perfect example and steward of your gift I’ve ever witnessed in the music industry. Rest Easy! πŸŽΆπŸŽ™οΈπŸ™πŸΎπŸ’―

  5. "A Girl & Her Band"

One of my dear brotha friends hipped me to Maze in 1977. I was in high school and he pulled up in front of the house and popped in an 8-track (πŸ˜‚) and played "While I'm Alone," and I was hooked and hopelessly in love. It was instant. I'd found my band. I went to my first Maze concert in college undergrad at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium in Los Angeles and it was transformative, even back then. Frankie played the guitar, the piano synthesizer and the drums…he was quite the musician. I've been to at least 50 Maze concerts…that's 1.25 concerts a year, over 40yrs. I would often say I needed a Maze fix. Why? It was the euphoria I felt after a Maze concert…it was like medicine. I once took 10 of my friends to see Maze, and they came out stunned and drenched in sweat from dancing. They danced and sang with people they didn't know. Their voices hourse from screaming and singing…yep, they got it. They understood the Maze magic. Thank God I took my kids to see Maze and they knew all the words and danced to exhaustion…yep, they got it. I raised them on Maze. I wish we could've kept him forever 😒.

Every once in a blue moon; every once in a lifetime a person, an event, a book, a movie or maybe a band comes along and you catch their wave and ride it into your sunset or their sunset, and it becomes part of your journey. You ride it through the ups and downs of your life because somehow the music 🎢 and the words speak to you, and speaks to the times. It doesn't happen often but it happened with Frankie Beverly and Maze. I'm thankful I discovered my band early and they were the soundtrack to my life. But I'm sad 😒. Thank you, Frankie Beverly and the phenomenal Maze band. You really made life better for us πŸŽ‰β€πŸ˜’πŸ’”

Yep…I'm a professional writer. And this is my Maze experience ❀

  6. There was something much more deeper to Frankie than just the music. Music was just the instrument used to fulfill the purpose, and Frankie understood the assignment.
