  1. Hey Warren , i listened to Rick Springfield’s new album today great job on the mix !! I think the only one close to that is Venus in Overdrive also very well mixed . His early stuff was mixed way to bright. Great songwriter / singer and guitar player as well

  2. Warren Hewart replaces Ritchie Blackmore as The Man In Black hehehehehehe….. great video! Seriously, The Beatles surpasses remixing, remastering. In fact we even enjoy listening EVEN THE WRONG TAKES they made. It's as if even their worst bloopers oozes perfection. However you slice their music (unless you add instruments that were never there in the first place), their music is sublime!

  3. What are the mics you are talking about that have good off axis rejection for snares??? My drummer has is hihat SUPER close to the snare so any help dining down that hihat would be amazing help!

  4. Fantastic episode! Going to try that input vs master idea on my hybrid digital tube bass amp. Only have room for a 4×10. Maybe I'll get a bit extra low-end or maybe I'll just have fun trying.

My wife enjoyed how much I enjoyed this one. Thanks for it!

  5. This is why I love your channel Warren. It’s honest and educational. What was once considered “Bad”, like having distorted vocals, can later become the new “Sound/trend”. Music and songs are creative endeavors and with that is an open canvas to paint with! Now, whether most people will buy, or like, your music is a whole other subject. 😃

  6. I understand the appeal of $12,000 hardware/microphone but only the people listening very very closely in nice speakers will notice how special it sounds, and they’ll only notice after listening to the song and liking the performance, and even then they’ll probably never notice. Shopping just feels really good.

  7. I tried it myself, and only trying a bit of ADT. TNK i was able to remaster a bit of a Bowie version. But as a real Beatles fan, i stay away from remastering as much as possible. I even have Abbey Road waves plugins…. but not on beatles tracks

  8. Those so callled self “purists” who have a problem with a remix or remaster of a known song also tend to have problems adapting to change in their lives. Just because there is a remix, does not deny or negate the existence of the original. If you can enjoy more than one version of a song, then you have more enjoyment available.

  9. I did exactly what you said Warren! I bought an Allen&Heath 32ch GL2200 months ago used for just over $700!

It's currently sitting in my closet waiting for the next time my band is going to record an album or if I have a big sound gig worthy of that many inputs.

  10. I love the Parlogram Youtube channel… The way he talks about the various mixes and masterings of albums throughout the years and release locations and then points out the desired characteristics, or not as well as market supply to help you make an informed decision on buying records. He also gives great historical context of the records.

  11. About your last points, ten years ago I built myself a massive computer rig, it had all the bells and whistles to run some pretty hefty CAD software and since that put me 3/4 of the way there I got a PCI card for MOTU interfaces and built a portable studio rig around that machine. It has been bullet proof until lately when it started bugging me wor Windows 11 updates and some of the USB ports have died as a resuld and this my Cubase dongle is dead!! Lately I've been eyein Tascam analog mixers and I'm thinking of getting just that and the cheapest ADAT converter possible and call it a day… I'm tired of buying good gear that becomes obsolete just for software reasons!! And as I was shopping I realised, in the early 2000's when I bought my TEAC model 2A mixer for 20$, they were all pretty much 20$…. Now it's like 160$ does not power up, for parts only!! Had I known, I would have built a solid analog rig that won't become obsolete so long as they keep 120v 60Hz and XLR alive!!!

And that last bit about the pianos, so true!! I kept seeing them in my Facebook feed but never had room. Then my bandmate had us move our gear into his garage to setup our recording studio. Not long after a friend posted a free piano and sure enough when I responded 20mins later it was already called for. 2 weeks later he messages me saying the guy backed out and I was next in queue. So my band mate borrowed the pickup and horse trailer from his parents and we drove to my other friends place to collect the Piano. It's a 1929 Robitaille Piano made in Quebec and it's been a huge game changer in the studio… Just working out a quick chord progression, there's nothing to plug in, you just press the keys, noodle about and bam! find what you wanted and the jams are kicking again!! If you have room to spare and a few capable fellows, a piano is a must have!! The worst is dealing with the tuning. Ours is in a garage that's heated but not optimal… So it does get wonky to the point where when were recording it, we pick out the notes that are played and tune them and don't bother with the others!! Also, he got a tuning kit on Amazon with a wrench that was useless…. the thing might have been made of butter!!! I found a legit one on Ebay from a US seller and it was just the socket and that thing alone weighed twice as much as the Amazon kit shit!! Buyer beware!!

  12. when I did FOH for many major bands I just used what was available and brought a favorite sennheiser vocal mic if I wanted more clarity. IVe used sm 57's and they are fine but I just tasked myself to finding alternatives, especially in the studio. If you listen they are out there, just try different positioning with them. The right position for a sm 57 doesnt translate to an AKG D190e (which is incredible on metal snares).
