‘Remains to be seen’: Conflicting confidence on AUKUS among US analysts and officials

The Australian’s Washington Correspondent Adam Creighton analyses the contrasting confidence over whether AUKUS legislation will pass through Congress.

Mr Creighton said senior officials in the Biden administration are confident all relevant legislation will be passed.

“But if you talk to analysts on the ground in Washington, they say that when push comes to shove the US is going to be unwilling in a few years’ time to part with what would be about 10 per cent of its submarine fleet,” he told Sky News host James Morrow.

The Washington correspondent noted that much of the nation’s submarine fleet is undergoing maintenance and is behind schedule.

“It remains to be seen over the next … few months,” he said.

  1. No-one realises. Australia has not signed a contract with any company to supply the nuclear submarines. The nuclear submarines – are not being built – to sell to Australia. This is still in the hands of U.S. politicians to decide on.

This deal has not even begun yet.

It's all media smoke and mirrors.

Albo is doing nothing. This is more about him free loading off the Australian taxpayer.

He had to go and "LOBBY" the U.S. Congress.

This trip has been a good time for Albo – and good bye Joe send off party.

This trip – has done nothing – to buying a nuclear submarine.

Albo has done nothing. He is simply talking to Joe. And Joe's days are numbered. The Democrats are sending off evidence of Joe's crimes – now to the Justice Department – to appoint special prosecutor investigators. The Democrats are no longer destroying – or hiding evidence of Joe's criminal activities of Joe – or his family. The Democrats are throwing Joe under the bus.

So Albatross Albo – again – is all show – but there's nothing to show for – his visit.

The U.S. is about to start selecting the candidates to run for the U.S. Presidency – very soon.

So one political dud – pissing in the pocket of another political dud.

Means – a complete waste of money and time. Mind you – at your expense – at no cost to Albo.

  2. Australia needs to be ready to mobilise for war at any hour and we're not ready.
We have no steel production energy capabilities with fewer coalfire power stations, and no nuclear power.
    What of Australian manufacturing?

    God help us.
Who cares about Albo shaking hands with people when he isn't DOING anything practical for Australia.
How many secret CCP police stations are in Australia?

His whole leadership is about "the vibe" and no substance.
