References to Astarion's Past – BG3

References to Astarion’s past as magistrate/judge I’ve found in the game and artbook (and a bonus or 2).

  1. Neat! only issue with the distillery one though – Moonrise's problems were about 100 years ago and Astarion was stuck in BG for 200+. I thought it was him too and wish they'd somehow got that to work lol.

  2. Thank you for watching! It's possible he got banned from the distillery much earlier (years before the shadow curse), it's very unclear. One of the devs hinted on their social media that it is him at one point. Would be very cool to get a confirmation it was him and when/how he got there.
My guess would be that he was a magistrate at the time.

  3. I kind of like the idea that he was always a trashbando❤ the game let's you fix him. It's OK to have unreasonable/unrealistic fantasy preferences. I have a very good husband irl so husbandos can be trash😅

  4. Theres one more reference that you missed in act 3. During one of th trials in the wyrmway, tav is tasked with choosing a fitting punishment for a criminal in a painting. If astarion is present, he'll suggest that, "You must give the harshest punishment available. It deters future criminals." That line alone gives so much insight into the kind of judge he was.

  5. not sure if it’s still in the game (this was in early access) but if you fail to save arabella from the snake he would say he wouldn’t have killed her himself, just cut off a hand or two
