Vegas played this one as if it was a must win game, which it was of course.

  1. You want to know why people don't like Vegas, it's all those little things like not wanting to give stars to the opposing team, to recognize good play from opponents

  2. Can someone help me with the rule of icing. They called icing last night on the Golden Knights but it was 6 on 5. So is icing only taken away when the players are lopsided if it's during a power play?

  3. "WAHHH, the league wide conspiracy against Edmonton continues". You have to be a complete moron (or complete tinted glasses homer) to think the league would conspire against by far it's most lucrative player (he's the best player in the world AND Canadian) going far in the playoffs; the league also makes so much more revenue via TV viewership, etc. when Canadian teams are in the playoffs. It'd be equallyas has a vendetta against the Maple Leafs.

When you're averaging a whopping 1 goal/game when not on the PP in your losses (which usually makes up 45-50 minutes of a 60 minute game) and been outscored 12-3 in such cases in this series and your starting goalie's got an .890 save % and been pulled 3 times in only 11 games… you kind of have some massive deficiencies to overcome. And the eye test agrees that those stats aren't misleading; they've mean comprehensively dominated when not on the PP in those games and had plenty of such stretches against a lesser Kings team in their losses.

  4. Edmonton isn’t done yet, I think this one is for sure going 7.

But I think next year is more likely for the actual run. Skinner comes back with a full year of experience, Campbell bounces back so we can run 2 goalies. A whole year of ekholm and whatever else they do for the d this offseason, and we mostly keep the same forward group.

Woody is a good coach but I’ve seen that he also needs some more development time. He’s been way too lenient with skinner, who hasn’t even posted a .900 save percentage. Campbell should’ve been getting starts this series already, in 3-4 periods he’s only let in 2 goals. The guy needs to start worrying more about winning games and series not maintaining the best of relations.

  5. Silver lining: At least I can still root for the Oilers for another season (as fun as that series would have been), and get the Stars more sweet justice against the Golden Showers. Cheater expansion teams aint SH**! (respect to krakens though, no hate, scary team to fight)

  6. I don't think we'll see any supplementary discipline for Kolesar; looks like he tried to avoid Ekholm when he realized he was vulnerable, he ended up pancaking him instead of finishing the hit. Scary play though.

Fifth game of the series and again discipline is the key word. This time it's in a bad way as the Oilers lacked it and came up short. They ran out of time and simply weren't the better team this day. All of their scoring came on the PP (75% tonight), Leon kept off the boards. Only Connor and Hyman scored (Connor twice), Bouch with 2 assists, 2 apples for Nuge as well and Hyman got an assist in addition to his goal so we have 4 players with 2 points. Skinner yanked before the end of the 2nd period. Okay, giving up a 5 on 3 PP goal, sure, it's likely. Giving up the 5 on 4 PP goal well was hoping for more from the PK and Skinner. That gave VGK the lead and they kept it and built on it a minute later with a 5 on 5 goal. Hence the yank.

Campbell was lights out for the remainder of the 2nd period and all of the 3rd period. I can see him as starting game 6 but can also see Skinner going back in too. He plays well after getting the hook. The Oilers could NOT stay out of the box. Broberg TWICE (and he only played just over 6 minutes) including the first of the 5 on 3 PP goals by VGK. Janmark was responsible for the 2nd 5 on 4 PP goal. Broberg apparently is "grabby" with 2 holding penalties and Janmark had a high stick. Foegele had a FOUR Minute High Stick in the 3rd period that the Oilers killed but still, with that double high stick the Oilers are listed with SEVEN penalties to the Golden Knights four. Kolesar boarded Ekholm (hope he's okay because loosing him would be BAD) and was chucked with a game misconduct.

There is no "politically correct" way of being even remotely close to candid about the flushable officiating in this one. I just remember they're human. They boys have to win the next two to advance to the 3rd round. We're now in MUST WIN territory. Take care all.

  8. Thank you Edmonton Oilers for a amazing year of hockey . We are still 2 or 3 guys away from being a Stanley Cup contender . We will try again next year .

  9. There is no way the Oilers can lose. Even if Vegas has a 7-0 lead the game will go into OT as 7-7. Oilers might lose a game or two but they are not in any way a beatable team.

  10. Oilers need to start campbell instead of Skinner and split mcdavid and draisaitl when even strength.
They are a deadly combo but it kills their secondary scoring.
Regular season they hardly played on the same line and the team scored the 5th most 5 on 5 goals.

The bogus penalty on broberg started the whole sequence of bs.
