  1. I'm hugely fascinated by special effects and how they're accomplished, and Real Genius is one of my favorite movies. Thanks Piercefilms for collecting all of these interviews, I've been watching through all these since The Algorithm suggested your Hunt for Red October videos last week. Your channel is a treasure of special effects oral tradition. It's a tragedy that miniatures and practical effects are becoming a dying breed, and modern movies are worse for their loss. When doing media archive research on Real Genius, one YouTube commenter remembers that there was a Behind the Scenes mini doc by HBO regarding the PopCorn scene that HBO aired back in 1985 or 1986. I searched and searched for it and still am not able to find the footage so perhaps it was shown on CineMax if anyone can confirm.
