Strategic Analysis of Australia Director Michael Shoebridge has unleashed on the Albanese government after it was revealed they will refuse a request from the US to send a warship for protection in the Red Sea.
“Fine words and self-congratulations from the government can’t hide this weakness in how they act and what they do,” he told Sky News Australia host Chris Kenny.
“Washington would be looking at us being unable to send a single warship to help keep the international sea lane open.”
Mr Shoebridge said the US would be seeing it as a “real eye-opening moment about the weakness of Australia’s military”.
“They will be thinking to themselves, how on earth can they pursue nuclear submarines when they have such limitations in their conventional military right now?”

Yes we do a small navy when you compare it with Indonesia theres is a lot bigger then ours and china is trying to make them friends but Australia has not bothered with Indonesia when we should be teaming up with them
Thank you to the current Labour Government, the circus is alive and well
Cultural Marxist ideology has totally infiltrated your government as it has ours in the US… ( They call themselves " liberals" but they're more like Chairman Mao's little helpers 😊)

Ditch Globalist America and Ally with Freedom Loving Russia . They are the future , not America.
SkyNews is a foreign entity, these cronies should be shutdown
Energy price are rising because of the Governments Insane Net Zero Policy , not wars in Ukraine or the middle east.
Albanese is just a weakling, we should have supported the US. Albanese does not want to upset China, remember what occurred a few weeks back? The sooner this Government goes the better, let's hope they do not cause more damage before the next election.
A supposedly first world nation, that has a navy, being shown up by hill billy islamic mountain men who not so long ago were wondering around their country with second world war rifles, but now are being exploired by Iran who is giving them drones, missiles, and various rockets to attack shipping.A story from hill billy America landed in Australia.
We are a pathetic joke. Spent a fortune on Aukus for subs. Can’t send a frigate to,the Red Sea. What a national embarrassment
$450 million spent on the Voice; tens of $billions rorted by Labor's NDIS. No money for defence.
Look don't think Aus is the only country that became lax in security after the fall of the Soviet Union. Since then the "war on terrorism" has made the focus on more police type actions. Smaller boats, smaller troop levels, yet look at your local police. Are they armed to the teeth? Or are your's driving around in 5 – 8 year old vehicles? Using computer systems from the same age if not older. Politician's I think, worldwide took the "Peace Benefit" to the extreme and pocketed the difference to their benefits, NOT the society they serve/rule over.
That is why we have sometimes fewer local police and training, or on the other end more police but with less and inadequate training. National security budgets may seem over bloated, until you need to call on them to respond to what we've paid them for. Then we find out the "Security" we thought we had, IS NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE! In the case of the US Navy, not so much but IMO definitely in need of new ships and the ability to manufacture them with speed! Taking 5 to 10 years to build a single ship is a losing race to those that want to harm our democratic way of life. They need Allied help in the seas we trade in.
Add to that our combined recruitment problems, low pay and mediocre benefits with long hours. Yeah that sounds real attractive to me, (sic). We regular citizens complain that we pay too much in taxes. I contend that some members of our societies are not paying their fair share, while at the same time living large off of taxpayer contracts for "Security" that as we see in the end IS NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE! Who to blame? We the people of our prospective counties. We let public lies to be told by these "Servants" of the people. It seems we have little to no rules on accountability financial or criminally for the "Upper Class". They make their OWN Rules, while making laws that with the threat of force behind them, WE have to follow, backed up with the "Security" forces WE Paid for! Yet those same forces can't enforce the laws we live by on them. In the rare incident a politician is charged and if convicted. They get a slap on the wrist.
This election season wherever you are. Look for, and vet thoroughly the people you want or are offered for your vote, before you put them on your ballots. Not just watching a Tic toc political ad or a 30 sec smear job on a candidate on tv or during a sporting event. Require a PUBLICLY released 20 year background check with tax receipts. The same background check you and I would have to go thru to EVEN GET A GOV'T position of TRUST!
Don't settle for less, before the end of the cold war, our parents and grandparents did have "security". The west for the most part HAD armed forces ready to react, with HARSH measures to boot. It kept trade going and our economies kept growing.
TAX the RICH MORE! Invest that in local military manufacturing of armaments and ammo. Seems the world doesn't have enough to fight off the Russians in Ukraine. How well will our "stockpiles" do when called upon? How quickly can they be replaced in a time of NEED?
Lessons learned from the war in Ukraine. 10 million shells in storage, is not enough, Putin has proven that. We see the EU can't meet the quantity of 155mm shell production it promised Ukraine at the beginning of this year. Now if Aus had OVER PRODUCTION of ammo and vehicles alike from 5 – 10 years back or currently. You'd have a ready made market for selling your excess while keeping YOUR population EMPLOYED!
Time to bring back v. 2.0 of the Cold War mind and even though there is no war today in YOUR Country, there well may be one tomorrow with all the warning signs IGNORED by YOUR Politicians. Prepare for imminent disaster, be it Earthquake, Weather related, or War. Keep YOUR OWN personal stock of long storage food, water, and medications if you can. Even just a weeks worth of food and water can make a difference to YOUR Survival.
Life is short, don't take it for granted. You can lose it all tomorrow and may HAVE TO LIVE with the consequences. A quick death is not guaranteed in any situation. Better to avoid it if possible.
Fuel prices aren’t high because of Ukraine, the Saudi’s have been forcing OPEC to lower oil production. Why should we send the RAN to support Saudi Arabia in their fight with the Houthi’s when they (Saudi Arabia) are pushing up oil prices.
So is NZ, A SITTING DUCK.
Who cares what Kenny thinks. He works for SKY. It is not big time journalism.
Spot on🎯 if the boats are not up to it don't send them
To say, send them Australian blood is on your hands if anything happens.
Has the Navy addressed this issue with the government
In reports, about its lack of capability and capacity in operational systems if attacked by drones, surely a report would had been addressed before now.
Labor can not be solely blamed for this,
And the reason not to send a ship is valid, on operational grounds, alone i feel
And the families of the service people who would be sent
Would feel the same.
No one wants a photo and metal on the wall, in memory of a family member, who was sent to a conflict zone unprepared. Surely I'm not the only one thinking like this of the fact presented .
It's solely a common sense. Answer,
Furthermore, there's more military power there than any stage of the world historically in weaponry.
Sending personal is the right response.
Due to equipment not capable of action for this responce.its hard to truely argue against
I can't for those critical reasons.
It's time to leave this planet or at least learn Chinese
Extraordinary absolute failure of government 🇦🇺🤬 Albo has to go🇦🇺
Weakness is provocative. Dangerously provocative.
Submarines are what we need, ships are sitting target's these days.
Our airforce should be able to pick up the slack until our commie leaders realise how important it is to have tje ability to protect ourselves with guns…
See what i did there 🙉🙊🙈
Do Australians who would love to kill billions of civilians in China… consider thwy may be inviting more trouble by their support of totalitarian genocidal goals?
Albo has been in government for a little more than a year. We had Liberal Givernments for 9 years before that and those incompetents did nothing. Just remind me what Chris Kenny knows about our navy, the Houthis or the middle east. Bugger all would be my guess.
Honestly imagine the Indonesian government telling their generals to prepare the Indonesian armed forces to invade Australia by 2026 . They would over run us in a fortnight, this is a scary reality
Too many military bureacrat's buttering the bread of our colonial masters and insufficient intellect within the ranks of our corrupt 2 party system are the key issues, coupled with a profoundly corrupt press core on the take to keep quiet and not ask questions.
How can a strategic analyst sprout such misinformation? Our Hobart class ships have the exact same type of weapons and sensors as the Americans do. We are perfectly capable of anti-drone warfare, it’s just expensive to do so. Until Ship Bourne lasers become mainstream it won’t be cheap to shoot down drones. And not even the Americans have widespread use of lasers yet, only prototype systems on a couple of ships.
These idiots you get on, do they know, America knows more about the Aus millitary than they do lolol
