Hi Guys, I think you have worked out by now the endless greatness of Cold Chisel, but I thought you would also like thier 1980s cover of this Bob Dylan classic. As you have said before, it’s not just their great singing and playing but it’s the subtle things and the emotion they naturally all have and add in. This time you also get to briefly hear the keyboard player Don Walker who also wrote most of their songs. This also shows that everyone in Cold Chisel would be the lead singer in any other band. Don is a great singer in his own right, then they have Ian Moss and on top of that they have Jimmy Barnes. Thanks for doing my request and I hope you enjoy the song, Chris.

  1. Dang! This is why Chisel and Jimmy Barnes remain my favourites of all time. The beautiful smooth blues voice of Ian is always made better when Jimmy joins him. That connection they have is amazing. Then, when we hear Don Walker's solo I am always floored. Ian's guitar work is brilliant, as always, and then when Jimmy does his solo, he imprints why he is their lead singer. He is sooo good.

For those who like this cover, it is available on Spotify. It's on my playlist 🔥🔥🔥

  2. I was at this gig.. Manly Vale Hotel was a great venue. A lot of us gigrats in Sydney were spoiled with local talent. In the year of 1980 I saw INXS, Cold Chisel, Midnight Oil, Jimmy & The Boys, Divinyls, The Angels, Flowers (Icehouse), Split Enz, Mental As Anything, The Sports, The Church, Mi-Sex and a lot more at local pubs and venues. I haven't even mentioned The Numbers, MEO 245, The Innocents, The Eyes, The Aliens (not the greatest thing on earth, but they had a moment), The Scientists…

  3. There is a great clip of The Machinations doing You Got No Say In It live at The Bridge Hotel in Sydney from a month or so ago.
You reacted to the original recently and it's great to see it done 40+ years later as good as it was back in the day.

  4. Have a beer in the front bar, hear the music start and wander into the band room, and this is what we got. not only from Chisel but so many other bands as well. It was a special time

  5. Many Vale was a staple on Friday Night, so many awesome bands turned up there every week. What a great time to be alive and an Aussie in the 70's and 80's. Jimmy is now out of hospital again after another operation on his hip and soon will be back with the boys on the road for more Chisel shows.
