Hits Different is the Christmas present you get a few days late that hits different
Iāve only listened to rip off versions of hits different but it easily became one of my most favorite taylor swift songs ever!!
I feel like the lyric "I use to switch out these kens, I'd just ghost. Rip the bandaid off skip town like an asshole outlaw" is very reminiscent of Cowboy Like Me, which is clearly about Taylor and Joe if you really look at the lyrics. I feel like there are also parallels with Hoax here and Cowboy Like Me, because in Hoax she says "Don't want no other shade of blue but you, no other sadness in the world could do" and here we have the theme of this relationship hitting different (as well as the mention of the color blue) and in CLM we have lyrics like "And the old men that I've swindled really did believe I was the one" (go back to the outlaw lyric) and the theme that even if they break up, the narrator is never gonna love again.
Hits Different is absolutely amazing!! It is one of her best tracks.
I love how this song makes 100% sense and every line it's like a punch in the gut if you read it from a sapphic perspective
