This was the best movie ive seen in a good while
Death (aka The Wolf or Lobo) is without a doubt one of DreamWorks best but also terrifying antagonists in years and Wagner Moura (a Brazilian actor) who is best known Pablo Escobar in Narcos really knock it out of the park. Interestingly despite his actions in the film Death is by no means a villain as he has a sense of honor and nobility, as his main reason for pursuing Puss in the first place was to punish him for arrogantly squandering his eight lives with reckless abandon, concluding from this that it would be best to kill him before he wasted his final life. 🐺🐺
Interestingly, before Puss in Boots meets him at the bar, Death appears in a blink and you miss moment when Puss was battling the Giant where he was in a slight dark corner and compared to the Crowd he was not cheering for Puss but watching him to see if he gets killed and hints of him of his wolf head and sickles were seen on Puss' death card numbers.
Finally, Death's quote in Spanish when he was defeated by Puss: "¿POR QUE DIABLOS FUI A JUGAR CON MI COMIDA?!?" translates to "WHY THE HELL DID I PLAY WITH MY FOOD?!?" in English.
When Puss is fighting the giant at the beginning you can actually see Death standing in the background.

This is such a great movie, the best since Shrek 2. And yeah, I swear the fight with the giant was totally an Attack on Titan reference, I have a feeling someone at DreamWorks is a big anime fan and probably saw 'fight against giant in middle of town' on the script and they immediate said "it's perfect for an AOT tribute" which is nice since the anime is meant to finish this year. And yeah, first scene with the wolf, it shows that yes we can have blood in kids films now, though I think because it was a little bit, they could get away with. Loved your reaction as always

i shed tears from beginning to end for this movie. i honestly didn’t expect much, i feared it would involve politics & it also concerns me for shrek 5 but after this..i’m 100% ready to shed tears & excited for it all
If you notice the Ethical Bug burn the last part of the map, it is not just because Jack Horner denied his help. It is also because when Jack flick him, one of his leg and wing got torn off, causing him to be disabled and can’t fly. That why the Phoenix has to carried him at the end

Look at goldilock's wish and the path that was given to her on its own.
She wanted to wish for an actual family, so the map told her to stop and think because what she wants might already be in front of her, and then showed her their house.
From the very beginning, HER path implied finding out the family she already had first to be able to get a wish.
In the same manner, softpaws has the path of sorrows because she only wanted someone she could trust, puss in boots had the cave of loneliness because he was supposed to realize that he didnt need to be alone.
It makes me wonder what Big Jack Horner's map and path would have looked like.

26:04 I think the reason why Goldie’s map wasn’t as bad as puss or kitty was because her whole story is for things to be “just right”, so the path she’d want is that with least resistance

just went to see this with kiddos in the theater, only going with their choice. i was never really into puss in boots but i do like the shrek universe. i think i ended up liking the more than the kids lol. going in, i was wondering why there were more adults in the theater without kids than with. cuz i'm a big animation fan but i thought puss was too kiddie.
i loved goldi and the bears, they were so lovable. when i found out goldi was florence, i was like, no wonder i loved her. she's just effortlessly magnetic. she's growing to be one of my fave actors.
but yah, this was so fun. i found myself laughing out loud. it's far from spiderverse, stylewise, and i came in "not minding" the frame rate change at first but the fight animation style was pretty cool. i actually want to buy this one. well done overall.

Whoever was in charge of those subtitles dropped the ball hard. Like they couldn't even bother to translate the single words of Spanish used. Like Gato, gracias, hola, perro, perrito, gatito, etc
Another Antonio Banderas film I recommend watching is Desperado, which co-stars Salma Hayek. The voice actor for Wolf/Death portrayed Pablo Escobar in Narcos. The voice actor for "Big" Jack Horner had voice roles in Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers and Big Mouth. The voice actor for Papa Bear portrayed the titular character in the computer animated version of Beowulf

2.he didnt show up on the map which shows all living beings that enter the dark forest
3.he is literally death as he himself states and the grim reaper is also reffered to as death
