RCMP officer killed, 2 others injured in BC shooting

In British Columbia, an RCMP officer has been killed and at least two others have been injured after a shooting in the Vancouver suburb of Coquitlam.

Ridge Meadows RCMP were searching a home near the intersection of Pinetree Way and Glen Drive in the Metro Vancouver city before 10 a.m., when an “altercation” began between police and a civilian, according to B.C. RCMP.

In the course of that altercation, RCMP said multiple officers were injured and the suspect was shot.

Const. Rick O’Brien, 51, was killed.

  1. Anyone else ever notice that CBC, CTV, Global, etc all cover the exact same stories and they're always negative or terrible? This is why people don't watch the news anymore. Perpetual fear mongering or propaganda to keep you all suppressed.

  2. Dam shame, too bad they didn’t have restrictions in place to look deeper into an evolved homonis type before a warrant to enter while home was stamped. They could of took out his knees at wallymart after he bought his Ape bananas🙏🥊🥊

  3. It is with the heaviest heart of my life that a brave, generous, gentle, and kind human being left his family not knowing that his children will never play with him again. May this sombre time be with the people on the kʷikʷəƛ̓əm traditional and ancestral lands, including those parts that were historically shared with the q̓ic̓əy̓ (kat-zee), and other Coast Salish Peoples, until The Creator calls every single soul into His most sacred and unified mansion.

  4. What happened in bc was tragic but in my honest opinion things have to change and it starts with protecting our rights. A lot of people have forgotten what they are. Some haven’t and know what rights we have. These rights are trampled everyday by the people who are supposed to protect our rights. Like filming in public the right to protest the right to file grevinces with our government officials the right to protect us from illegal searches and seizures the right to be secure in our papers and documents. Just to name a few that are trampled on some people have had enough there needs to be some kind of reform some kind of education on our rights and what they swore to protect
They do not get enough training in the law or other things they don’t get enough support so it’s Stuck in a place where people are have forgotten or freely give up there rights and police do not have enough education training and support to conduct there job properly
I’m all for more education and training for police as well as accountability I don’t care if it’s paid training and education as long as they get it and get the support they need
Things like this should not happen I do not know the details but I know there is a negative view of the police in our society
And they don’t have it easy either they wonder if people are only nice to them and friendly because they have a badge at family or friend functions people are quite when they come in the room as a lot of people fear them not ever knowing if people actually like or respect them it’s a shity job not one I’d want to take
Hopefully they relies that something needs to be done in order to get trust back in these communities and keep people safe that should be the only objective. Besides protecting us from tearny and oppression

  5. Rip. Guy in handcuffs in underwear most likely suspect ? Not jumping to conclusions but if he was in a deep sleep and he awakens to his door being smashed in .he may have shot at them before his brain even prosesd it was the police.
So sad. Regardless of the true facts once they ever publish them.
