Inquired Herald sounds busted. Creatures enter as a copy of a creature you control??? Is that like weird infinite shit with Sakashima or Spark Double??
Im shockingly impressed by elvish chorus.
An actual usable ability with flavor appropriate to black elves. Kinda wanna use this card for real lol
Love these episodes darn shame I missed this one live
Seems kinda harsh to destroy target opponent ? isn't this murder ? Sure, you may go to prison for the rest of your life but at least you draw a card. And you can trade that card for a cigarette…
Stonehorg is absolutely broken. Play it and tap for double mana, then next turn play a bounce land, rinse and repeat, every other turn you get an extra mana for free
Custom card idea,
Move any number of opponents, when you do you may put a kiss counter on each opponent moved this way.
At the beggining of your combat phase you may tap each opponent with a kiss counter on them then create a 1/1 ziber whelp creature token with cumulative upkeep "remove a +1/+1 counter from target player" under target creatures control, you and target opponent both own and control this creature
Lost warlock has lost so much, his face, his sanity, his instant…
Human wedlock has lost so much, his face, his sanity, his instant…
Flesh's have been reached
Couldnβt Brawler Championβs effect work with cards that target multiple opponents in commander play? After that, you pay 3 and gain 18 life.
51:31, Inquiril Herald is not perfectly symmetrical! All your creatures come in as copies of another creature you control, but your opponents are now limited to only playing copies of your monsters! Any and all possible creature solutions they have in their deck are now useless!
Inqural herald is your creature, wouldn't you get to make the decision of which creature your opponents get, so you get more copies of your best creature and opponents can only have your worst creature.
What if the only creature you control is inquiral herald and your opponent gets one, whose creatures are being copied? JUDGE!
Sprite Rager would be too good I think. It would be pretty much the best beatdown red 2-drop ever printed I think. Maybe do-able in a set not legal in Standard.
just a note on inquiril Herald:
It is legendary, so it can be your commander.
And if you use it as your commander, the green mana symbol in the rules text does a lot, since it shifts your color identiy from izzet to Teemur.
Which again, is very good, since it enables you to play green ramp spells.
ON TOP OF THAT, it is kind of a lockdown piece, since enemys cant play their own cretures anymore.
AND ON TOP OF THAT, once someone copys this card, everyone gets a headache, which replacement effect now takes place.
cool card to play around
Savor the moment secret lair has kissing
That rober waxike card is just a yugioh card with how complexly wordee it is
Kiss Counter proposal: When the number of Kiss Counters on a card equals it's mana cost, take control of the creature.
Elvish Chorus make sens, the tree is cursed. One day a procession of elves casted a powerful sorcery using the tree as a catalyst they targeted each of themselves with a spell to turn eternal. Now every time a spell is casted on someone in the vicinity of the tree, an zombie (elf) take his place and come back to life. You just need to know the lore around this card…
Also, with context you can figure the missing mechanic :
Take the Flips! 1W
Enchantment.
Target player have the flips. If a player with the flips speaks a word outside of the relevant game words, the player to the left now have the flips. If a word starting with each letter of the alphabet as been uttered since take the Flips! entered the battled, the player with the flips win the game.
Therefore, as you see, saying "Flesh's have been reached" and keeping your flips can be a very strategic decision. Also, there is a nice flips hate mechanic just in case in become meta.
a centaur is a human with 4 legs, so a centaur drake is a 4 legged drake, so a dragon, the ai is very smart
38:52 MeleeWipe= Board Wipe version of Evoke?
Holy crap, that Circle of the Vanguard Spider card is actually incredibly broken. How many green auras have "tap to add mana"? with that you wouldn't need to attack. You'd just keep it tapped and every untap step you'd just pay what's left of the cost and you'd do three damage to something.
Would you love Teferi even if he was a worm?
I'm always surprised when I witness intelligent people who are fluent in English but then there are one or two words they just don't know how to pronounce, like in Nikachu's case "herald" or Matthew Mercer's case "sigil". It makes me wonder if there are one or two simple words that I know of but for whatever reason I don't know the correct pronunciation of them and so I keep saying them wrong. And, I'm not talking about like regional/dialect differences or acceptable but less common pronunciations but just flat out wrong.
45:49 The Secret Lair version of Savor the Moment has a kiss in the art.
First half of this video:
(0:00) Sprite Rager: Likely OP, ship then ban later if needed. Wow, a powerful use of cumulative upkeep, making this guy get ridiculously powerful in a short amount of time, and is very difficult to block effectively thanks to first strike. However, it's not totally ludicrous, as the power boost and first strike only function on your turn, and he dies to the usual removal stuff, like Doom Blade, Lightning Bolt, and even Shock.
(1:42) Elvish Chorus: Fair, ship. This one is really neat! Oh, but it can provide infinite ETB and death triggers with "Equip 0" equipment, like Lightning Greaves and Shuko. However, you still need one of those equipments along with a means of creating creature tokens in the first place, in addition to something that utilizes ETB/death triggers. And, this thing does cost 5 mana, so I don't think it's that broken.
(3:13) That's a nice Island.
(3:14) Jackindure: Word salad, shred. Sorry, but I couldn't Jackindure all the text here. π
(3:15) That's a "J", not an "L".
(4:00) Too bad it's not an aura, so that Pacifism line doesn't even work either.
(4:38) Indungent Vitagins: Word salad, shred. The choices in the first sentence aren't used for anything. And, "that player" isn't defined properly. If this let you basically steal 3 life from target player, then it would be doable, and maybe OP for just 1 mana. Although, if it required you to choose those two aforementioned targets to even resolve in the first place, then maybe this would actually be fair.
(5:33) Hatchling of the Ancient: OP, ship then ban. Wow, a strong blue burn spell that also draws you a card and tutors for a dragon on your turn for just 3 mana? IT DANGER!
(7:01) That's a nice Plains.
(7:02) Tedom's Whole: Fair, ship. 4/6 for 4 mana is okay, and the optional ability might have a niche use somewhere. Combo with Transcendence, perhaps? Oh, wait. That won't work, since you gain 2 life for each 1 life you lost with that, so Tedom's Whole is of no help there.
(7:35) That was the Playtest card, A Good Thing. However, unless you're at exactly 1 life already, doubling your life would cause you to gain more than 1 life, and thus Tedom's Whole wouldn't allow you to avoid the life gain.
(8:19) Resplendent Spirit: This is a "Cost it!" card. I think having the cost be WBB, 2WB, or triple Orzhov hybrid mana would be fair for this 5/5 flying trampler that makes you sacrifice a permanent every turn.
(8:24) Whenever you see no casting cost, please make sure you look at the post's title to see if the poster said "(Cost it!)", and don't just assume that the card is meant to have no casting cost.
(10:10) Spowler's Scorn: Super duper OP! Shred then burn! …Oh, wait. Hold on. It needs to enter the battlefield to destroy target opponent, but it's an instant, which can never properly enter the battlefield. So, that part will not work, and that makes this a very overpriced and underpowered card draw spell with a touch of word salad.
(11:22) Oh, geez… Animate Spell (a Playtest card) would indeed work to let this enter the battlefield. Okay, if you can pull that combo off, I guess you deserve the effect! As for manifest, that wouldn't work, since it would just be a facedown 2/2 creature with the rules text on the card being rendered nonfunctional.
(12:11) Brawler Champion: Fair, ship. The life-gain effect might seem a little strong, but the body itself is a bit underwhelming for 3 mana, so I think it's just fine.
(12:51) Indeed. There's a lot of good AI land art mixed in here.
(13:47) Suldus Rangy: Word salad, shred. Yep, those words are indeed kinda mixed up.
(14:31) Nightspeaker Kavu: Fair, word salad, ship if you can figure out the rulings for having a creature be under the control of another creature. Also, this Ogre Warrior is a Kavu in name only.
(15:30) Maybe you could have Floral Spuzzem make the decisions for this creature. π
(15:47) Call of the Bloodstonch: Word salad, shred. This text almost gave me the flips. However, the second paragraph makes perfect sense. So, remove the first paragraph, and this would be totally doable.
(17:40) Circle of the Vanguard Spider: Fair, ship. Very neat, and it got the Inspired ability totally correct. Maybe it's a color pie break, but I think it still zibers.
(18:47) I have no idea what all that data really means. Trying to understand it would just give me the flips, and put me at risk of being destroyed by Call of the Bloodstonch. π
(18:51) Centaur Drake: Fair, ship. Ooh, neat use of the untap symbol, and I think the tutor effect is totally fair, given the costs to summon this guy and use that ability. Bonus points for synergizing with the untap ability in a way that makes sense.
(20:22) I like that mushroom Forest.
(20:24) Hetil, Rider or Oncreating: OP, word salad, shred. The X in its mana cost doesn't get used for anything, the +2 ability is quite OP, and the -2 ability is a bit weird. So, what if I wanted to gain life equal to my Brawler Champion? Would I gain 1 life from its power, 3 life from its toughness, 6 life from its last ability, or what? And, if I target myself, do I gain life equal to my current life total, doubling it? If I target my opponent, do I gain life equal to their life total? So many questions! I'm getting the flips here! π
(21:57) Flesh: Word salad, shred. Flesh's have been reached. Also, if it can learn to flip, then does that make it vulnerable to Call of the Bloodstonch?
(23:33) Rune of Truth: Word salad, shred. Well, it is telling the truth, since players can't become creatures in the first place… unless maybe you count Form of the Dragon, which effectively makes them into something akin to a 5/5 creature with flying. So, perhaps Rune of Truth would stop that from working.
(24:31) Lost Mage: Word salad. Shred. Yep, the mage's words got kinda lost there.
(25:26) Rage Revenge: Fair, ship. This one's totally doable, and it can be a neat combat trick if you find a way to discard it at instant speed during combat, allowing you to use its Madness ability right then and there, even though it's a sorcery.
(26:27) Empire of Nether: Fair, ship. Ooh, Nightstalker tribal support. Too bad all current Nightstalker cards are black, and this card is red. Well, it could work with Changelings too, so put this in a Rakdos deck filled with Nightstalkers and Changelings.
(26:39) Whoa, hold the phone! I didn't see that at first! Yeah, that says "nightstarker", with an "r" before the "k"! D'oh, this card was so close to being doable. Word salad, shred.
(27:34) I like that mushroom Swamp too.
(27:36) Rober-Waxike Mirror: Word salad. Shred. It's an all-you-can-eat salad bar here.
(27:44) No, that would be Azorius, not Izzet. Although, the ability does use red mana.
Rune of truth is really have some flavor, bc average magic player cant be strong enough to have power 4or greater, like strong beast's in mtg universe. I think usually we like 1/1 and to become 2/2 we should be as strong as real bear. So it weird when simple man player become demon monster 6/6.
The wording of magic cards is important, destroy target opponent does not mean target opponent losses the game, it means you need to destroy them
Fling the sprite ranger on its sixth turn out
Sprite Rager is too cheap. Spowler's Scornβ¦Β is it on the battlefield if it's attached to Ice Cauldron? Meleewipe – wrath of god but only attacking and blocking creatures? And if it's on a creature, it can only do that if it is an attacking or blocking creature??
pfff spowlers scorn doesnt even exile the opponent. unplayable!
IMO Ziber represents the highest ideal for an AI magic card. Unique, interesting and untapped game design ideas that are surprisingly balanced but strong enough to see competitive play if real.
Nightstarker is Tony Stark at night, so basically Batman.
Bad combos that actually work: Teferi, Workshop Wurm + Stasis, pemranently tapped opponent
I didn't remember what "Zibers" was for the longest time, but when I got that explanation, it all came back to me
Second half of this video:
(30:53) Black Spawning: Fair, maybe underpowered, print. Perhaps there's scruebold counter support somewhere to make this thing really good. Who knows?
(31:45) Yeah, Cardmarket – Magic has some interesting AI card gameplay videos.
(31:57) Grolla, hand of T: Fair, ship. Sure, it has no planeswalker abilities, and the flying ability does nothing unless you turn this into a creature somehow, but the other abilities do function, although getting 20 snow permanents onto the battlefield just to make use of the card draw effect is kinda unlikely. This card is probably underpowered, in fact.
(32:10) Oh, if a planeswalker having flying prevents it from being attacked by non-flying creatures, that's actually pretty neat. Reminds me of the Sarah's Wings Playtest card.
(33:10) That's a neat Island.
(33:11) Ring of Gathershell: Word salad, shred. Might be doable if there are bosk cores to be found with the game, I suppose.
(33:46) Rally Thane: Underpowered, word salad, ship. It works fine with Wolves, though is still weak for its cost. Not sure if finding any Wwives would help with that.
(35:17) Pilarchelling: OP, word salad, ship for Un-sets maybe? Pay 3GG and you get to have your opponents play musical chairs! π
(37:58) Goldneam Snapper: Fair, ship. Meleewipe sounds neat. We just need reminder text to tell us how it works. But, it sounds like it could very well be a real ability, so I won't judge this as being a word salad.
(38:21) Here's my take on Meleewipe: "Put a +1/+1 counter on this creature for each creature your opponents control, then this creature fights all creatures your opponents control." Basically, it is capable of wiping out all opposing creatures in a big melee, unless they're still too strong for this guy after he gets his +1/+1 counters. (And, that's why Goldneam Snapper would lose all of its +1/+1 counters after hitting an opponent.)
(39:08) Ensity Architect: Word salad, shred. How would taking an ability from a player even work? Maybe you steal an ability from one of their creatures or something?
(39:43) That's greater than my ability. If I sit for way too long, I feel I need to get up and take a walk or something.
(39:59) Overloaded Permanent: N/A. Yeah, Overload would work just fine when it comes to permanents, properly changing each instance of "target" to "each". So, there's no reason a permanent can't have Overload.
(40:23) Eye Tutal: Fair, ship. It stares into your soul, and at the top five cards of your library, but you can't rearrange them, and you don't draw a card. However, it's pretty easy to cast this for free.
(43:01) Stonehhorg: Fair, ship. Okay, this is pretty neat, having a land tap for 2 mana, but then you can't use it again on your next turn if you do that.
(45:25) I think Stonehhorg would be okay, since Ancient Tomb exists. Maybe it can be banned later if it's considered to be OP.
(45:34) Azon of Grace: Underpowered, ship. Maybe it's actually very good if it turns out kiss counters are powerful for something gameplay-wise.
(48:17) Owned Cards Moving Zones: N/A.
(48:25) Teferi, Workshop Wurm: Fair, word salad, ship. Not sure what tapping a player would do exactly, but it happened in one of Cardmarket's videos, so it must be okay. Too bad the +1/+0 effect occurs after this thing hits a player. Also, IVORΠVM FTW.
(49:48) Aothe Emissary: Word salad, scream then shred. This guy is just angry that the abilities besides the top one just do not work, and this made him start morbling.
(51:30) Inquiril Herald: Fair, ship. Splash a little green in your Izzet colors to make this guy slightly stronger, and it has an interesting creature-copying effect. Of course, the opponent's creatures are affected by this too, for better or worse. You might just end up with a board filled with nothing but Inquiril Heralds if everything is forced to copy it.
(53:36) Oh, right! Inquiril Herald is legendary, so unless something like Mirror Gallery is in play, each player will just be stuck with one Inquiril Herald and that's it, unless there were other creatures already present before Inquiril Herald was summoned.
(54:15) Can I borrow 100,000 arrows to shoot down those 100,000 Platinum Angels? π
(55:49) Indefinite Effects: N/A.
(55:51) Harvest the Sands: Word salad, shred. There's no kicker cost, and then just fell apart with undeamheum and other nonsense.
(56:32) That's a nice Forest.
(56:35) Sea War: Word salad, shred. It almost made sense. Almost.
(56:54) You don't. The token ceases to exist, so that ability doesn't work.
(59:02) Coral of Preyent: Fair, ship. After you animate this man-land, can you splice a spell onto the Arcane creature? π
(1:00:04) Power and Toughness: N/A.
(1:00:06) Swiftfoot Swine: Underpowered, ship. Very weak buff for its cost, but you can't go wrong with this energized regal pig! Would've been nice if the spell granted flying and maybe one other effect to the creature it targets. Oh, well.
(1:00:35) Fiend Hunt: Fair, ship. A doable sideboard card to use against snow decks.
Man I discovered your channel by accident today and boy howdy does it give me the flips! ππ Thanks for the delightful content!
14:55 what if the Kavu was then basically bound to that other creature, if the other creature dies so does it & it can only be played if you have another creature
Flesh's been reached
