Rare, Obscure & Hidden Gem PS2 Recommendations

I picked out a stack of PS2 hidden gem recommendations from my collection from all kinds of genres. I hope you find at least one or two games youā€™ve never heard of before that you can add to your wishlists!

If you enjoyed this video be sure to leave a like/comment. I still have tons and tons of obscure games to recommend in the future if people keep watching these from all regions (US, JP, PAL/EU).

Watch me live: https://www.twitch.tv/petedorr (eBay streams every saturday night, games during weekday)

  1. The PS2 is such an amazing system. I feel like I just keep finding awesome new games I wanna play on it xD
Well, fun fact dispenser time! IGPX was an anime that aired on Cartoon Network's Toonami block in the mid 00s. It was indeed about battle racing, it started as 5-minute shorts and eventually got a full 26 episode series.
I'm really happy you mentioned Cookie & Cream (known as Kuri Kuremix in Japan and PAL regions) I admit, I enjoy the reactions people give when I show them the game and explain it's from From Soft xD
It also got a port to the DS a few years later!

  2. wow, right off the bat the first 5 games i found dirt cheap years back & passed on all, and still will (sorry). and i love quirky, unique, underrated titles despite critical reception. gungrave, cookie cream, and city crisis are respectable. stretch panic should've been on the list

  3. If you plan on doing a part 2, pretty much all of Midway's sports titles definitely belong on this list as a combined entry. Not only that, but Fight Night 2004 is pretty good too

  4. Good video! Gungrave is an old classic. Small recommendation, just a bit of gameplay added in over your voice would do wonders to increase value to the video. Keep up the good work!

  5. some great choices, I was never a ps2 fan but the actual game library for it is the definition of 'hidden gems'. I stumbled across a votoms game on the ps2 and it was amazing but just could not push through the Japanese language barrier, wish someone would remaster the game and give it a world wide realise.

  6. One of my favourite PS2 games is definitely a hidden gem. Dai Senryaku VII is a pretty incredible tactics game. It's the only entry in the series to be released in North America, and it's a shame that it did not sell well, as I don't expect we'll ever get another entry localized. IGN's criminally low score probably didn't help either. The game is still very affordable, and worth checking out if you like tactics games.

  7. Been a long time since Iā€™ve checked in, Iā€™ve been away from you tube for a while. Love all your old videos I used to watch you all the time. You actually met a friend of mine at a convention in Boston, where weā€™re from. Anyway, super cool seeing youā€™re still gettin after it, happy holidays Pete!

  8. Peter is becoming my new go to Youtube source for these great PAL and Japanese retro unknowns especially! Makes my retro store/eBay surfing much easier! EDIT: I actually JUST bought Crisis City yesterday along w KOF XI for PS2 9$ a pop- but my CIB spine has CITY CRISIS in yellow, still same front though. What did they do multiple releases you think? I bought it because it reminded me of my old PC fav from Maxis Sim Copter mixed w Air Ranger:Rescue Helicopter (Which I always wondered if the elusive Choplifter: Crisis Shield was a budget release of in PAL)
