Ranking Whistler's 10 BEST Days of the Season

Even in the worst snowfall years Whistler Blackcomb still produces the pow. I thought the recent storm system would kick off the 2025 ski season, but instead, we’ll have to keep letting the enthusiasm brew. I figured it would be fun to rank the best powder days I skied at Whistler Blackcomb in 2024. This does not include any days at other Canadian resorts or days in the backcountry. Let me know in the comments if you were up skiing any of these days???

Here are the links to all of the full video versions of each of these epic days:

  1. Hey James. I am wondering if you could make a vid on the best runs and lines on whistler mountian. I've skied there once last year and had a blast but I was always found myself in no really cool runs. I don't know the mountian at all. Thankyou!

  3. Lol that was fun, cross referencing my Garmin history. I skied almost all of them. New year's I did in the evening for the backcountry so I could be on a summit for new year's day, the big storm in February I was in Park City instead (way less lines but still pow days so I consider that a win), and one in January I was in Hawaii, but overall it seems we have a similar mindset šŸ˜€ (I mean it ain't complicated, if it's dumping snow, go skiing!)

  4. I was there for #1 week. Came from NJ with lifelong ski buds to celebrate turning 60ish. Rise I met you online day of big storm. Anyway it was sick as hell we had a blast so much snow.

  5. Looks like some snow coming soon! Hopefully doesn’t melt in 1 day this time.

I also got one question. I’m heading over there January 3-11, so how crowded would you say it is over the time, and how good is the skiing generally?

  6. Not to get anyone excited or anything but it's looking like a very wet winter may be coming to the North West this year! I'm stoked and I don't even get to go skiing but I know Rise & Alpine will and I will enjoy every single video on my sad little Aeroski lol!!! Yeeehawww! šŸŽæā›·

  7. Got some fresh pow in Utah this weekend and skied at Brighton getting my October day of every month this year with 6 inches of pow on 12 inches of grass now I am ready for the lift. Now all I have left is the easy part and same for you cool to see that you did turns all year to and glad to see with both did it.

  8. Yeah, that week Late Feb/ early March. Our family went Saturday. I remember we were having lunch at the Roundhouse. It had been snowing all morning. We had spent it skiing the peak. The precipitation was enough to fill the trail back in when you did a second lap. But not so much that you couldn’t see where you were going. Storm Riding Rules! Anyway we agreed to next ski down the blacks off Harmony. But the trails to it are boring- cross country like trails. So instead I pointed in the direction of the bottom of the chair and we ski’d through the trees -no marked trail. Just unbelievable. Winter wonderland. Then when we came out of it we merged with the end of a blue trail (G.S.) that was headed to the chair lift base. Exactly where we wanted to be. You don’t forget those runs.
    So stoked for this year.

  9. James you are EN FUEGO!! I have skied lots of pow on Shale Slope, Cockalorum (spelling) Bagel Bowl, Christmas Tree etc… you have given me (and everyone else) powderific memories.

Changing the subject I would like to buy your new neckgaiter. I should buy some Liquid Courage as well… you think it could travel to Finland?

  10. We had a trip around same time in feb and remember the epic storm. As an east coaster, I have never skiied pow like that and definitely struggled with my j ski all plays, but man that was absolutely epic!

  11. The depth of that day was insane… no I was not at Whistler… in fact I just came home from Whistler the day before the said pow day BUT at Mt. Washington just a stone throw away, also had a 100cm pow day and yes I couldn’t turn… it was the only pow day I actually went after tracks so that I can gain some speed to do some pow slashes b/c as the man said… turning was not possible.

  12. I remember that day near Christmas. My buddy and I got up with the village gondy early cus of our early bird pass. While everyone was waiting for the other gondolas to open, we were having some the the deepest, freshest first tracks of our lives. Really makes you think why most people don't use the early bird/first tracks pass. It's 20 something dollars and come with a $18 food voucher. Anyways, that day was so amazing and I remember getting to the hotel afterwords and reading everyone's horror story for the day. Oh and also, no lift lines for both emerald and harmony.

  13. I started watching this video I actually wondered when YOU would think the best time of the year to ski Whistler/Blackcomb would be, I realized it changes but I always figured it was usually late February through early March. Then after watching this video I was very happy to see I was absolutely correct: The best time to ski Whistler/Blackcomb IS late February/Early March.

That's just another thing I love about this channel; Even though it's been almost decades since I've skiied; It's nice knowing I always KNEW when it was best to go; I figured the best time was late Februarty/early March. My best day ever was late February 1988 when I was 18 the only time I skiied Saudan Couloir without falling; (like your mom can do at age 60) the same day I also skiied Gearjammer and feeling a fast sense of vertical drop skiing steep powder atop packed moguls. I skiied both mountains that day (which means I needed to buy a duel mountain day pass as one did back then).

I only wish I'd already known then what Nancy Greene taught me 8 years later at Sun Peaks, but luckily I was too blissfully ignorant to care at the time since I'd never experienced snow so good, and would never experience such steep slopes with such good conditions again, (at least not yet. ) Thanks for posting!
