Ranking Subtronics – FRACTALS LP

Request Rankings: Season 4 has begun! I heard this album late last year when ANTIFRACTALS was about to come out and I thought it was…alright. I thought there were some really solid tracks, and some really not-great tracks overall. A very mixed bad for me, but honestly not a bad debut album. Hopefully if he decides to put out a sophomore record, I hope it’s more consistent in terms of quality (good quality, preferably). Otherwise, check this one out if you want, you might find a few playlist saves!

  1. This album is very hit or miss, but overall not too shabby. Also, Gassed Up is based number 1. I’m not a fan of screechy dubstep but somehow Gassed Up does it right, absolute slapper.

  2. Happy birthday tvr!
I remember discovering this album (along with its remix counterpart Antifractals) in early 2023. Re-listening to this album now, it does not sound quite stellar as I remembered it to be. Questionable track placements, some sounds being annoying loud, and the deep dub tracks being a bit gimmicky and uninteresting. The rest of the album was good and impactful though. My favorite out of the album is probably O.P.U.S. It is one of the best intro, if not the best intro of a bass album. It not only sets the tone of the album well but also being a very beautiful and solid track in of itself.
