Nice team work. Good to see BB with you again. This fall was up in Swan Valley I'd. Returned to Utah via Idaho Falls. Drove past large farm of Lamas, must of been his place.
I sure hope enough people can afford to support the fresh tracks+ and keep randy filming. I can’t afford it at this time I wish I could cuz randy has helped me out as a hunter more than you know. Keep it up Randy Newberg!!!!
What a great story to get to watch. I'm sure that harvest will be one for the camp fire for years to come. Thanks for sharing and I can't wait to see what's next.
Hey Randy, high angle shooting has the effect of shorting the shot distance. It has to do with the fact that gravity works on a linear bases and not true distance. Most range finders have a setting that will account for angle. There are also formulas to account for it, just look in some sniper manuals. With you shooting consistently high when the angle was steep I would bet this was the issue
Congratulations Randy. I was honored to draw my Colorado goat tag when I was a 'young' 66, so I completely understand how you felt when you were finally able to close the deal. Special memories for sure. Thanks for sharing!!!
On the third missed shot, at 29:40, you can clearly see the mark created by the bullet in the rock face above the billy. It appears to be at least 2 feet high (although the angle of the camera might be less than the angle through Randy's scope as I believe the cameraman was sitting above and behind Randy). At any rate the shot went way high. I'd be curious if Randy dialed the scope before the shot – and if that's a Leupold CDS dial like I think it is, what dial setting was used. Angle-compensated distance? It seems likely the scope was either dialed up too much or there's something wrong with that scope.
Wear logging caulks and you will not have the slipping problems walking on steep ground. I’m out there all the time on ground that you cannot stand up with regular boots. Yours will thankyou
What a great hunt!! I'm so glad everything worked out last year. We were so worried that you had missed the chance to hunt your goat. Congratulations to you and the whole team
Was your laser rangefinder set up to take into account the angle? Shooting up or down hill shortens the range the bullet travels horizontally. It makes sense why all your shots were high. Great video. Glad you got your Goat.
Congratulations Randy. You have an awesome support crew of friends who are willing to persist alongside you. They say that confidence and persistence are the means to hunting success and with an 18 year wait for a tag I would say that the latter is definitely a necessary evil.
I’ve always passed on hiking up in that area, but it was fun seeing what it looks and how steep it really is. Great video and having those memories recorded is a gift. As I watching it, I got somewhat sad. Dad there in BZN has a mature Billy he took up in upper sage probably 20 yrs ago. The only hunt of his 88 yr old life where he agreed to hire a guide with horses.
Laid there up high for 5 hrs waiting for him to get off a cliff where he wouldn’t fall and break horns. A cold cold wait. Finally, he cleared and 1 290 yr shot killed him dead.
I got sad watching this wishing I would of been with him on that hunt or at least it was all recorded. As we spent our last few days in elk/wolf camp together this past fall, I know that’s the end of his hunting career and it sure would be nice to have that goat hunt on tape down the road.
I have 2 DIY AK Peninsula brown bear hunts of us on tape and a lot of elk memories recorded, but I wish I had his goat on tape to go with the beautiful shoulder mount.
I shared a sheep hunt with my best friends 3 years ago and it was one of the best hunts of my life. Not because i killed the biggest ram on the mountain because i didn't, but the memories i made on the mountain meant more than anything. Congratulations on staying the course, it's not easy on a tag like that.
Some things are earned and some are just meant to be. That goat was both! Love the team effort that was poured into this hunt, that in itself is a win and taking “Dirty Harry” is the icing!
You have a good bunch of guys
Good lord all of those misses gave me anxiety just watching it. Congratulations Randy! Practice those steep angle shots folks!

Great hunt!!! Congrats on a beautiful goat!
Awesome stuff! 👌
Outstanding! Congratulations
Nice Billy Randy. What a great hunting party!
I'll never have the pleasure of the actual hunt, but this is the next best thing. Thanks for taking us on the ride!

Great job team! Glad to see the video after hearing all the tales of the hunt!
What a great story to get to watch. I'm sure that harvest will be one for the camp fire for years to come. Thanks for sharing and I can't wait to see what's next.
Thanks for sharing your amazing hunt. Great to see you and Beau and the crew working together to take the big Billie
Keep up the great work!
You are da man, Randy!!
We have a saying here in England you couldn’t hit a cow’s back side with a shovel.
Such a cool hunt! Congratulations Randy! Well deserved !

Great film Randy! That's a bucket list hunt for me here in CO. Someday, maybe, I will eventually draw the tag! Great job!
It is always shocking to me how well blaze orange stands out. Even on that GIANT landscape, you can see those dudes, ALL over.

Absolutely loved watching this!! Congrats on a fantastic goat!
Thank you so much Randy for sharing your story of perseverance, dedication, and friendship and CONGRATULATIONS on putting a tag on Grubby!!
Would love to see the final product when you get him mounted.

Randy you are still tough as nails, congratulations to all involved.

Good for you. Glad you had a great crew with you.
Congratulations on a nice Billy! Unbelievable hunt in the high country
Great content. Absolutely brute of a billy and a legend!
Was your Range Finder set on Angle Competition. That is the only explanation for shooting high
Congratulations Randy and crews! Billy goats have huge bodies on them, bigger than one would expect.👍👍
Amazing hunt. Couldn’t happen to a better guy.
Great hunt! I have been waiting to watch this since I heard about it on the podcast.
That’s one off my dream to hunt a mountain goat sir👌👌👌
How can I make drows for mountain goat in different state like Montana I’m from california
