In this episode, I show some original light fixtures that I own from the Contemporary Resort in Walt Disney World.

  1. Randy, we are very much alike. I have vintage items from my childhood days from Wildwood. Back then all rooms had smoking and some places had signature advertising ashtrays. I have many from days past. Not one place is standing today but each ashtray brings those memories alive. I'm not into change either. It is disheartening when your soul soaks in the early days as The Contemporary and and it is a wonderment through a child's eyes and never leaves the heart. When change occurs you feel an aching in your being. But we cannot stop progress but we were fortunate for those family experiences that allowed us to thrive as kids. I know you will never forget and neither will I. I think those lights are lovely and I especially like the orange bulbs. Orange is one of my favorite colors, my winter coat for this year is orange and I'm getting many compliments. You do not know how much I love these shows you do because without fail brings up amusement parks and beach towns for me. Those are my happy memories. I continue to say give me one more day to go back. It's in our blood. I know exactly how you feel. You do an excellent job presenting your memorabilia. I love this. Don't stop. I feel little again and my heart flutters. The excitement of days that have long passed but ever present in my mind, heart and memories.

  2. I do not recall ever seeing colored 25 watt s11 bulbs. There were clear s11 bulbs shaped slightly different for specific applications but not for use in general marquee lighting……

  3. Wonderful memories! My first trip to WDW was also in April 1972 on my honeymoon. We stayed at the Contemporary in room 4342. I still remember the thrill of going from the ground floor on the escalator and seeing the Grand Canyon Concorse for the first time.
