Rams vs. Raiders Recap: Baker Mayfield's Debut, Raiders Worst Coached Team in NFL [Week 14, 2022]

The Rams defeated the Raiders in dramatic fashion in SoFi Stadium last night, 17-16. It wasn’t only Baker Mayfield’s debut… but it was his debut after getting claimed 48 hours prior by Sean McVay and the Rams. In miraculous fashion (and after only putting up 3 points in the first half) the Rams’ offense began clicking halfway through the fourth quarter and the Raheem Morris’ defense simultaneously decided to play the best form of complementary football possible – while only allowing 67 yards in total in the second half. In one of the more thrilling games we’ve seen all season, it was the Rams who came away on top – and it was equality in part due to Josh McDaniels’ coaching style down the stretch. Only one way to define it: “scared”. The Rams meanwhile took plenty of risks – and they all paid off.

  1. Great game, great Episode. The punter was doing the knife across the throat motion after the punt, had me laughing and probably pissed some Rams players off. Baker is going to give himself a concussion, he was head butting everyone on the sideline without a helmet on.

  2. LOVE IT!!! Well done brothers! GO RAMS!!! It was amazing to be there! I appreciate what Akers did, however, would love to see more Williams. Nice to see Ernest Jones with the pick in the end zone. Would like to see Greg Olson take on the OC role.

  3. People forget that when he dislocated his shoulder he had a top 10 QBR coming off a playoff season and it went downhill from there, I think Baker's biggest mistake was not having season ending surgery instead playing through the season

  4. Baker was always overprepared and has a reputation for having a photographic memory. EVERY coach he has EVER had (going back to HS in Austin) has been impressed how quickly he memorized playbooks and his intellect in understanding concepts and able to expand plays. Baker excelled at that at the Combine. He just needs to know his coach has his back and is upfront (unlike the Browns HC & OC).
He is on his 7th HC in five years, so he has had to learn many different playbooks. He said that helped him to be familiar with parts of the Ram's that were similar, but called something different.
The Panthers GM & HC, players, & fans had nothing but good things to say about Baker after the game and were not surprised he did so well. The HC said he deserved to go where he would get playing time and film before free agency.
He loves to kid around in the lockerroom, but he is a professional; very intense and focused during games. Good to see him smiling and appreciated. Coach, team, & QB appear to be a great match! 😊👍🏈

  5. As a “former” St. Louis Rams fan may I respond by saying we didn’t start hating the Rams or not be fans of Rams players. We lost total respect for the NFL in general allowing what happened to happen despite the city offering up everything that was asked of it. Plus we all now despise your Missouri born (no longer welcome of course) owner.

  6. Baker has what most don't have.
A memory of making the throws he knows. It's football, not nuclear science.
Baker has a high level of football reps. Those two bench warmers don't have anything to compare with Baker.
