  1. This is strange. Of the 50 or so bottles of single malt I’ve purchased in the last 4 years, the Benromach 15 was the only one that just hit me wrong from the start. Been back to it 10 or 12 times and still don’t enjoy it. Maybe a bad bottle?

  2. Rally, what I’m hearing that I didn’t understand before is that you don’t just go slower… you go smaller with you sips. That’s a key tip that I didn’t catch before.

  3. Shorts and Flannel in November – must be laundry day. Benromach 15 is actually on the shelf of my go-to liquor superstore here in Denver suburbs. But every time I've gone to buy a bottle to try, I get lured by something in the fancy glass cabinet (last week, it was a bottle of Glenfarclas 25 – too rare and too much of a bargain to pass up). I'll get to the Benromach eventually.

  4. This is actually a question for anyone in here…
Per a ralfy video I watched long ago, I try to buy a bottle I’m otherwise unfamiliar with every month or two in addition to my usual suspects to broaden my horizons. I’m an Islay peat fan and bourbon secondarily. I am going to have the opportunity to buy a single cask bottling of either a 9 year old first full Sherry or 11 year old first full bourbon benromach. Any advice on which to lean towards? Based on this review it sounds like more confidence is had in the bourbon casks than their sherry ones 🤔

  5. Congrats on the OSWA's which I enjoyed on Saturday evening! Only issue was Pernod winning two awards and not having the decency to put someone up from Red Breast to accept it with good grace.
And while we are on Pernod/Chivas/Irish Distillers its not just them who smash our whisky through the chill filtration plant at ambient temperature and claim it to be Un chilfiltered. Looking forward to your take next year.

  6. Never bought this range, 43% for such a great malt being chill filtered is disgusting, and they should be ashamed for it. Sticked to the CS version or other malts, just give it 3 more % and switch the chill filter machine off, saves alot of energy costs… I mostly sip just 1, 2cl whisky glas for the whole evening, on rare occasions 2, so my staash gets bigger but im hardly getting rid of any bottles 😀

  7. I watched this on the back of the OSWAs Ralfy – ooh what a triumph this event was and again, very well done to you, Roy and all contributors. This is a not to be missed annual celebration of our beloved aqua vitae.

    Q. Do you have a preferred time of the day for enjoying a wee dram Ralfy?

  8. Love the cask strength matey but a big thanks for the future extra £10-00 over the range 😉
On another matter to all concerned regarding the OSWA I doff my cap to all of you and the malt mates who took time to vote. Big respect to whoever kept Rachel and Jen off the Buckfast all day 🙂

  9. Ralphy, you surprised me with your shorts in the both. Must be mild. It's -19c with lots of snow here in the Canadian Prairies. I will look for this Scotch here. I can't wait to see your new both jacket in the new year.

  10. I hope Benromach stays off the radar for a while. I have purchased 2 single cask bottlings this year that I'm very pleased with, and have always liked the old 10 year old 100 proof. And they should go back to the old branding.

  11. Benromach made three faults imho: 1. bottling at only 43%, 2. rebranding it into a nonpersonal blendish caracter, 3. using only first fill casks, overpovering the SPLENDID spirit they do. I am sure, Benromach could be one if the top notch brands, doing some very little homework and changes. Why only first fill casks??? Biggest mistake ever!
