LAS VEGAS, Nev.–Las Vegas Raiders might have discovered some things about their new quarterback, but they found another way to lose after holding a 10-point lead.

Robbie Gould kicked a 23-yard field goal with 6:57 remaining in overtime and lifted the San Francisco 49ers to their ninth consecutive victory, 37-34, over the Raiders at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

Gould made up for missing a 41-yard field goal attempt on the last play of regulation when his kick seemed to graze the outside of the right upright as it went by.

The Raiders have lost nine games this season by a touchdown or less.

Quarterback Jarrett Stidham, making his first NFL start after the Raiders benched Derek Carr for the last two games of the season, was spectacular at times. Still, on the first overtime series, he was pressured by Pro Bowl defensive end Nick Bosa into throwing a wobbly pass down the field.

Safety Tashaun Gipson of the 49ers intercepted at the San Francisco 37-yard-line and returned the ball 56 yards to the Las Vegas seven-yard-line, where a five-yard penalty was tacked on, and two plays later, Gould kicked the game-winner.

Stidham, who was drafted in the fourth round (No. 133 overall) by the New England Patriots in 2019 but had been riding the bench since, completed 23-of-34 passes for 365 yards and touchdowns of 24 yards to tight end Darren Waller, plus scores of four yards and 60 yards to wide receiver Davante Adams.

The 60-yarder to Adams propelled the Raiders to a 24-14 lead with 10:22 left in the third quarter, but once again, the Silver and Black couldn’t keep a lead, as Stidham also threw two interceptions.

Purdy engineered drives that led to 14-yard touchdown runs by Christian McCaffrey and rookie Jordan Mason, plus two field goals by Gould to give the 49ers a 34-27 lead on Mason’s score with 2:17 left in the game following a 57-yard field goal by Daniel Carlson of the Raiders.

However, Stidham made like Carr—known for his crucial fourth-quarter scoring drives—and took the Raiders 75 yards in three plays, including a 45-yard pass to Adams that set up a one-yard touchdown run to tie it again, 27-27, with 1:11 remaining.

It came down to the two kicks by Gould after that.

McCaffrey rushed for 121 yards on 19 carries and caught six passes for 72 yards, as Aiyuk led the 49ers with nine catches for 101 yards.

Jacobs, the league’s leading rusher, finished with 69 yards on 17 carries, while Adams led the Raiders with seven catches for 153 yards to give him 1,443 yards this season, breaking wide receiver Tim Brown’s franchise record of 1,408 set in 1997. Waller added three receptions for 72 yards; tight end Foster Moreau had three for 56.

Safety Duron Harmon and linebacker Harvey Langi led the Raiders with nine tackles apiece, while cornerback Nate Hobbs made eight stops and linebacker Luke Masterson had seven.

Las Vegas played without three of its best defensive players—defensive end Chandler Jones (elbow), linebacker Denzel Perryman (shoulder) and cornerback Rock Ya-Sin (knee)—who were all placed on the disabled list this week.

  1. Good day my brother. Much love Wasted. I agree with 💯. Stidham based out. And he balled out and have been on the field. I can't remember the last snap that he took this year. To come out after sitting on the sideline for the entire season. And come out and play like that. We have to credit where credit is due. What if he would have been on the field 5 games back., it could have been a different ending. But he brought a different energy to the game that Carr does not bring. That's just facts. But it's not fair to Stidham to bring him in with two games left. He proved to Raider Nation and to the Coaching staff that we should have did this 5 games back. Poor Coaching decisions. You play to win, not to appease a certain player. Stidham brought Raider Nation Energy. Facts. I have been a Raider Nation fan for 40 years. And I am not going anywhere. Win, lose or tie, Raider Nation until I die. That's real talk. Keep doing what you do brother. Keep it wasted and we will keep pasted. Peace out. 💀☠💀☠💀✊🏿👊🏿

  2. Stidham showed what we all wanted DC to do which was extend plays and scramble for 1st downs. Stidham is probably not going to be our future QB but he showed what can be done when extending plays and he was quite accurate with his passes.

  3. Congrats on 6k, man. Love listening to you, Dox, Hammer, & Andy(when he's around). Nice to finally hear people talking about the future and how this team can finally get rolling to be playoff contenders. Raiders fans want that, too, regardless of their view on DC.

  5. Hated to lose but Stidham balled out and made yesterday look like a good street fight rather than just the opposite(helpless and hopeless offense where the norm in the second half was almost always 3 and out!!
I’ve always supported Carr and hope the best for him with a good indoor team but he no longer has that fire he used to have until he broke his leg!🤷‍♂️
McDaniel’s and Ziegler WILL turn us into a perennial playoff team!🙏💪

  7. Did you hear Davantes remarks about Stidham “blood in between his teeth remark”? Yea, Davante respects the kids grit! Tae ain’t going anywhere if this kid gets a shot at qb1 next year.

  9. At the end of the day this is a Business, and even though Carr is a good person he not getting the job done that he’s been getting paid for nothing wrong with make a change when he’s not doing the job.

  10. I'm not saying Stidham is the long term answer, but this game proved that keeping Carr would be insanity. You can get Carr level production and impact (and maybe even better) for far less $$$ while actually building a decent defense. Plus the energy on the team seemed different vs the 49ers. All of the Carr boys thought the team would pack it in and not play hard for McDaniels yet they took an SB contender to overtime. As bad as the defense was they were missing pieces yesterday as well.

Let the Carr lovers go root for whatever team Carr ends up on. While true Raider fans can be excited about the chance to go in a different direction. Carr bet on himself with this contract and he did not prove himself worth it over the long haul.

  11. Perplexing that we had to wait until Stidham came in to see the kind of 50/50 balls for Adams that we'd been hoping that DC would throw all season!
That 2nd TD throw to Davante… we all KNOW that DC would have either been sacked or would have thrown that away to avoid the hit.

  12. I'm happy looking forward now we've moved on from DC, but the haters need to stop gloating… this does NOT prove your opinion that DC has always been trash… he just wasn't good enough THIS YEAR to justify that new contract. If DC had played as well this season as he did for most of the previous 8 years, then I don't doubt that he would still be the Raiders QB, and we would be going to the playoffs again.
Either way, the main problem with this team has been unchanged for the last 20 years… regardless of who throws the ball, we need to find a way to put something better than a bottom third defense on the field!!

  13. Would love to se Stiddy win the job . Get a QB for cheap and build a defense. I fear 1 more game is not enough of a sample to know what to do in offseason though.

  14. What pisses me off about this situation with Carr is he talked for 9 years how much he love the Raiders and he is at home with his bottom lip poked out crying. If he really loved the Raiders he would thank the franchise for the opportunity of a lifetime thank the Raiders for making him a rich man for the rest of his life thank the Raiders Fans for supporting him for 9 years but he is plotting his revenge against the only organization that gave him a chance after 32 teams passed on him. His carrdasians talk about his character and how he's such a great person but he's showing his true colors now.

  15. its 1 game…unfortunately we only get to see 2 games before they make a decision. This was his statement game….lets see how he does in a game in the middle of the season that doesnt mean as much….we wont get that.

  16. It’s hard to believe we pick up the patriot way and go all in because of a performance that ended in a loss. Let’s shit on the guy who rode out all the bs in the past 8 years. I don’t care what fans say and it’s justifiable opinions. That organization did him dirty.

  17. I love the guy, don't get me wrong, but I personally believe that McDaniels wasn't happy or confident enough in Carr being able to learn the system as fast as we all wanted. I can't feel sorry for him at this point, he and his Agent knew the contract they were signing. Of course the play calling is going to look a little different, and I think it's because they don't need to water it down for a guy who knows it front to back.
Davis and McDaniles just didn't want to wait for Carr to come around if he ever would have at all
You shouldn't have to slow things down for a 9 year veteran.
