Rafale Or Super Hornet, Which Fighter Will The Indian Navy Choose? | Battle Cry With Shiv Aroor

The Indian Navy has fast-tracked the process of purchasing 26 fighter jets for its two aircraft carriers after evaluating the trial report of the two shortlisted contenders — F/A 18 Super Hornet of Boeing and the Rafale of Dassault Aviation.

The Super Hornets are US-made while the Rafale is manufactured by France. The Navy needs 26 jets for the two aircraft carriers — INS Vikramaditya and INS Vikrant.

  1. Many considerations , if France shares its 9th gen nuclear reactor tech , it will be Rafale, if USA does tech transfer of EMALS catapult, it will be F18….both aircraft are 4th gen aircraft , so purchase will only happen with freebies

  2. They'll get 2-4 squadrons of each. Rafale, f21s,f15,fa18 and su 35s+upgrades for 200+ su30s. Try and make all here. 100+ fs, 100+rafale, 250+su. Party.

*In the meanwhile just please get amca going.

  3. Crashes have happened to every aircraft so far except Tejas, its new, time will tell. I have been commenting strongly that naval version of Tejas should be bought, the strategies and actual senarios will never match. Use Tejas immediately and TEDBF later, DONT delay or buy from foreign sources. We will get tremendous experience and manufacturing base – else we lose time and money.

NAVY CAN Ask their your needs and pay to ADA, DRDO, HAL, L&T, or somebody in India. Strategies can be changed based on available weapons. Improve them as we gain experience. BEST EXAMPLE IS THIS VERY IAC. Earlier we had a bad experience with Russia for aircraft carrier- huge delay and huge cost over runs.

I had a serious argument earlier in a similar article with one of the commenters. There is no 2 ways, if its good for aircraft carrier, its good for aircraft on IAC.

  4. No arrested hook, rope…etc. You pissed off the US and you look down on Russia. Russia is not goung to give it to you so you can land western jets. US will not give it to you so you can land Russian jet. 🤣 US hook not the size of this carrier. 🤣

  5. Sweden's 10 million citizens somehow come up with a very cost effective world class 4.5G machine capable enough for a giant like India to have once given serious consideration. It's quite remarkable. No one would bat an eyelash if Saab said the Gripen shipped as a flat pack with a little screwdriver. My personal view is that it is a consequence of the ABBA trickle down effect.

  7. The F18, super Hornet. India soecific.
The weapons and guidance system from Israel 🇮🇱, not American
The F18, data will be compromised buring actual hostilities.
The Americans, will have remote stations inside our neighbours borders and offset the mission computer telemetry.
The US, manufacturers need to give documentation and TOT, to India.
Before these India specific carrier based F18, deal goes forward.

Time India should see alternative in
Rafael M or Euro typhoon for Navy
requirements. Loss of lives of our precious Pilots should be kept on top priority as far as choosing among the best alternative.

  9. I think we need to go for Rafael because it's not just about buying a fighter jet but a whole lot of ecosystem we need to create for it which will cause lot of operational issues and all pilots from IAF may not know it how to fly it comfortably…..
