Quick & easy meatball & cheese calzone homemade with pizza sauce, & extra cheese is a hearty all in one pizza meal! Quick & easy meatball & cheese calzone homemade is just a mouthwatering experience in every bite. Quick & easy meatball & cheese calzone homemade is enough to feed 3-4 people and it’s very filling. Calzone dough can be made with a bread machine or you can just the same take a shortcut and buy pizza dough at the store (Pillsbury or Crescent Dough) take your pick. Calzones do tend to remind you of Stromboli’s just the same; however, make no mistakes Calzone with meatballs are equivalent to eating an extra large meatball sub but with all the extra love in it!! I’ve been making Calzones for quite some time I was inspired to do so remembering that I once worked at a local Italian Pizzeria when the Raiders were previously known as the L.A. Raiders fun fact! Quick & easy is exactly what making calzones are they involve ingredients that most of us have readily available on hand at home. Calzones are fulfilling, enjoyable, and plain out says love and happiness on a plate, something about that extra cheese for those unlimited cheese pulls y’all!!
Ingredients – homemade pizza dough or store bought pizza dough (Pillsbury or Crescent dough), pizza sauce – your preference please see my Pepperoni pizza casserole video for sauce used in this video https://youtu.be/g-WdFAOHp2Y cheese (your preference), meatballs, this is totally adjustable to any meat or meatless alternative of preference i.e. ground beef, turkey, ground chicken, beyond meat, veggies your preference
Cooking instructions as follows:
1. roll out pizza dough homemade or store bought onto baking pan
2. skillet fry/air fry meatballs according to package instructions, toss them in pizza sauce of choice, homemade/store bought.
2. place meatballs to the side, also cook meat of your preference to go into your Calzone.
3. Ensure that pizza crust is spread out covering pan.
4. Begin to add cheese, meatballs continue to fill to your liking to one end of pizza dough leave enough room to fold over once you’ve filled the dough.
5. set oven to 400 degrees bake Calzone for 18 – 20 mins. Ovens vary some cook faster than others so ensure to check at the half way mark about 10 – 12 mins or so. Save remaining sauce to completely cover Calzone fresh from the oven should you choose to do so, enjoy!!!
