Hi Nathan, Do you have any experience/opinions/thoughts about the CCM 230? I'm looking for something lightweight with electric start for trails and competitive events such as Sweetlambs Baja and Lands End Trial. I've had a lot of past success with XR250's, but found the XR400 (440) too much, and I'm 25 years older now. There's a CCM230 quite close to me that looks the part. Mike
It looks lean and mean. What's the gearbox like, Nathan. I was once loaned a CCM 604 supermoto by Bracken KTM in Bermondsey. It had the worst gearchange I've ever experienced.
Love it but found it difficult to find any firms who knew about them. Not easy to get hold off the factory for service history etc. Ended up wirth a 690. Still love the look and concept of it. Thanks for the update.
I bought one after riding one with you. Just come in from the garage diagnosing and fixing electrical gremlins for MOT. Going to add another tune to the PCV and turn the tickover up a bit. If that doesn’t fix the hot starting issues it may have to go. It has always started but it always acts like it isn’t going to. Apart from that it’s a great long distance trail bike, as you say! Cheers Guy
That motor was a monumental flop in the bmw enduro bike . Knighter road it for a bit before he moved to Kawasaki . From what I remember it had a reverse rotating crank and instead of squat out of a turn you got a load of anti squat and it dug in . The factory bmw team could never get the suspension to work because of the crank .
Nathan Do Not repeat Not . sell the CCM You will regret it I had similar problems with my £6k Himalayan in 2019 Well tricked up but to frustrating to ride Issue after issue and I lost confidence in the bike in Morocco and sold it upon my return Think you will find the problems you have had will not return and before you know it your bike will be a well sorted bike Let's be honest, the Himalayan isn't the most reliable bike out there but you stick with it and are spending money on trying to make it better Trust me me Keep the lightweight, go anywhere CCM But if you really get Jacked off with it You can gift it to me Ride safe
Wish CCM had taken the idea further. Spitfires, in their many forms, are a lovely thing, but not a lot of use to me.
Hi, Nathan! What's the oil service intervals? Thanks. Cheers mate.

Good effort by ccm its a nice bike , shame there not reliable. Couldn't certain parts be changed out to make it a more reliable machine.?

PS look forward to your ride of it now it's ok!!
Did you spot the old tuareg and a couple of other 'project bikes' at Irelands today?
I think the "fenda extenda " is the best I've ever seen. Is that your work, Nathan ?
Out of interest what would be the "go to" bike for long trips?

Sounds like a bag of nails…
Looking at that CCM makes me think of my XT600. You should get one…if you can find one! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CvFaGA9yz6E&ab_channel=ThelastXT600%3F
brave try .. well done ,
A great British "nearly", surely they could have sourced a more suitable engine. Thinking about it, they already have one if the fancy reviving it…
