Quake RT Three-Way Let's Play – Campaign Coop/Deathmatch – RTX 3050 vs RTX 3080 vs RTX 4090!

Winding down for the end of 2022, John, Rich and Alex decided to polish off the year’s work by looking at the recently released path-traced version of Quake played in multiplayer mode in both campaign coop and deathmatch! As usual, Rich chose the lowest-end hardware available, playing path-traced Quake using nothing more than an RTX 3050 – the slowest desktop RT Nvidia card. Alex opted for an RTX 3080 while John is on RTX 4090. Just a bit of fun – but if you have just a fraction of the fun we had in playing it, you should find it quite entertaining.

  2. aside from the command line for changing the water color, another command line i highly recommend putting in is RT_Flashlight " " this will cast a light in front of you like a flashlight and make it much easier to navigate the game since ray tracing makes the game a whole lot darker. just put a number value where the " " marks are. 0 equals off essentially and any number higher increases the light intensity. i find that 43 is just about perfect.

  3. LOL @ Alex telefragging John to get things started. A gameplay mechanic that never gets old. 😂I laughed at seeing this just as much as when I telefragged a friend recently when playing Doom II for GBA, using the MiSTer core to play on separate CRT & HDMI/digital displays together through the campaign. Luckily I caught that on recording also. Thanks for all the entertainment and insight this year, DF crew- happy new years and cheers to a great 2023! 🍻

  4. I'll never understand the hate towards free, community driven mods like this. PC gaming had its roots in community driven ideas, the modding scene is not only still big today it was even more so in the 90s and 00s. But not only that, this mod and every other of SultimT's mods quite truthfully don't take away from the originals which can still be played easily today. Hell Quake 1 had a remaster in 2021.

People need to lighten up a bit.

  5. This was very entertaining, even goofing around these guys still give deliver good stuff. I lost it at John getting fed up and using noclip cheat to find the key haha. I was rooting for Rich in the deathmatch, but John had to spoil everything lol.

  7. Well, apparently there was/is a "gang" of (mostly male) children, essentially spread over every continent of the earth …
… which got/get "tempted" to access to video games for "FREE"! Which was/is, of course, illegal.
And to my utter surprise "John" was part of that gang. HOLY SMOKES!
I suddenly hear handcuffs rattling in the background … Could be the cops!
