  1. I will say this until the cows come home: Sea of Thieves is a game of risk. Whether your are PVE or PVP player, you are taking a risk the moment you start a session.

    "But… Alliance Servers!"

TheB's existence, and the existence of anyone like him, make even playing in an Alliance Server a risk. He can solo those servers with ease!

You don't want to take a risk? You're getting no judgement from me and there a ton of games that are more your speed.

Wild (probably bad) suggestion: have all ships be marked for PVP from the moment they leave port. Let all pirates know that risk is unavoidable in this game!

  5. Well after playing to pirate legend, my own thoughts so far. I think Sea of Thieves is trying to have it's cake and eat it too with the whole PvP vs PvE thing.

My cards on the table first off: I don't like PvP. I've never liked it in any MMO I've played. Even when I win, I just feel relief it's out of the way so I can get back to what I wanted to do. It's a hassle to me.

The sentiment of the situation is that if you love PvP but hate tall tales and all the other PvE content, you don't have to partake of any of it. You can just fight other players to your heart's content. But if you like story and PvE and don't like PvP, tough! You gotta do PvP anyway. It's feeling like only one side is having to make any concessions here and that's why a lot of people are finding the game to be a bait and switch, especially with how much the tall tale content is hyped up.

Now here's where the PvPers cry their "It's not sea of friends!" slogans but be honest, that's nothing but an argument of convenience you'd never accept were the situation reversed.

There has to be a more balanced compromise here between the two sides because you can't just have a situation where only one side is compromising while the other just gets everything they want.
