Over-hyped is the watchword of the day. Russia may have an effective war machine, but the war-machine's PR department is in hyperdrive. My guess is in Russia's presently attrited state, NATO could be in Moscow and St. Petersburg within 3 weeks, if Russia didn't go nuclear. They have a strong incentive not to break out the nukes, as nobody knows how 30-40 year old, unmaintained nuclear weapons will work, or not.
