Putin's war in Ukraine justified? How Germany 'made a fool' out of Russia back in 2014

In a recent interview with a German publication, former Chancellor Angela Merkel said that the 2014 ceasefire agreement under the Minsk Protocol was meant to give Ukraine time to build up its military. She admitted that Russia could easily have overrun Ukrainian troops in 2015 and doubted if NATO countries could have done as much then as they do. Russia has reacted to Merkel’s interview as a confirmation of Germany’s β€˜duplicity’ regarding the war in Ukraine. Moscow said that Merkel, through her statement, has exposed that the West never planned to follow the peace accord.

  1. You're spreading misleading disinformation and downright lies! Tell your audience, why you pretend to cite some interview without sharing a link to it?

In that interview, Merkel explicitely states that the goal of the Minsk Agreements was to prevent war. Later, when the interviewer tried to get her to admit that the effort to make peace with Russia was a mistake, she defensed herself by saying that there was no better alternative. Thanks to Minsk Agreements, at least Ukraine got time to prepare for invasion. That's quite a difference from saying that it was a primary goal of the agreements? Don't you think?

  2. THE BRUTAL FACT is that the collective West didn't even wanted to resolve the issue peacefully, even if they cheat on Russia… NO, they wanted a blood war against Russia, using ukraine's people as a gun meat. How many times did Russia asked for the general European security plan for everyone's safety?
Same thing they doing to Serbia, a small sovereign country in the mid Europe, and ripping off 15% of their territory, all the time imposing them with some "peaceful" agreements.
This single interview casts a different shadow on the whole world's order!

  5. I think the problem is lack of political imagination with today's politicians continuing to do things according to the past. Here in the UK, regional borders are sometimes changed with zero effect upon political stability; hopefully globalization may do the same for national borders.

  6. this is how truth twisted out

isnt in 1991 republics left th esoviet union?
    how that happened?
the reason was the UN charters about minorities and indigeous people

as ukraine with a simple vote left sovietunion, tthen same law apply on the russian minorities
donbass already voted twice, they DO NOT want kiev

    was ukraie called rebels?
    was ukraine called separatist?

ukraine dont have no any respect on their minorities

  7. Well I guess east should help the west with jing-jang mentality, but in reality the western mentality sees this as a weakness to exploit one way or another.
The rest you can figure on your own with a little imagination and thinking.

  8. All Russia wanted was the safety of the Russian speaking people in Donbass region of Ukraine, they never wanted it for themselves!
France and Germany were required to monitor the treatment of autonomy of these Donbass people, but they didn't care! If Putin had refused to sign the Minsk agreement, and forcibly taken Donbass back in 2014, a major war could have been stopped!
All that paperwork did was just give time to Ukraine to get invaded! And now who looses? The innocent people!

  9. Because it's a lie everyone knows you can't trust Putin as he will go back on any world he comes out with. Eastern Europe and the UK seeing it coming stopped using russian gas and oil a few years back sadly Germany failed to stop and was paying the price now for trusting Putin's Russia as this has proven once and for all never trust a russian. And really dam right giving Ukraine time to train and build up forces as Russia was always going to go back on it's words and start trouble like always .
