Russian President Vladimir Putin is laying claim to 1.2 million square kilometers in the Arctic. His main objectives appear to be the colonization of the Arctic and of the North Pole. It’s a project more than 20 years in the making.
This area, which remains virtually unexploited, is one of the last El Dorados on the planet. The subsoil is full of oil, gas, rare earths and precious minerals like gold, uranium, and copper. With global warming and the melting of the ocean’s ice, these riches are now more accessible, fueling the greed of major Western powers.
But in this conquest of the Arctic, Russia already has a head start. For years, the country has been equipped with gigantic nuclear-powered icebreakers, which have been used to help navigate the icy waters surrounding the North Pole. In addition, Vladimir Putin has invested in extraordinary industrial projects. One such project is an enormous gas processing plant anchored in the permafrost; another is the construction of an incredible floating nuclear power plant intended to supply energy to Pevek, a small, isolated port north of the polar circle. These are but a few examples of the Russian leader’s flagship projects, in this new conquest of the Arctic.
For Moscow, this policy also involves a militarization of the region. Fearful of these expansionist ambitions, NATO decided to react by sending a strong message to the Russian President. The Atlantic Alliance recently gathered of an army of 35,000 men in Norway to show that it could repel a possible Russian invasion at any given time.

As a neighbour of Russia, with a long relationship where we find a balance or EU`s aggresive politics claiming moore and moore of our resources like fish and oilshame money…. Nato with the US is our brother, but we also need a good relationship with Russia. What EU think is not importent.

Conquer the Arctic?!
By international agreements and territorial claims, Russia has the right to do just about anything in the Arctic. The same as the US, Canada, Greenland, Iceland and Norway.
The West is just butthurt that Russia has claims to 53% of it.
International law and agreements are well and good when they work for the West and its vassal states, but not so good when they work in favour of others.
Words like conquer, pollution, overdevelopment, exploitation, environmental degradation, and others are used by Western MSM.

Have to admit, Putin shows great intelligence prioritizing raw minerals… especially within his own territory. US is very good at "exploiting" minreals and resources of other countries.

Great documentary… This needs to go to Administrations of every Country! Spending Billions and Billions on wars to procure natural gas or go to Mars… let's invest in exploring our own planet!!! EDIT: US should have partnered with Russia… at the very least, they shouldn't have allowed other NATO countries to partner with Russia. This is why we have to support Ukraine. Growing up as a child, we would spend every Christmas with my grandparents in their beautiful large house on the lake in upstate SC. They had a group of friends that were Russian Christmas carolers that would come every year. They and my family would sing, smile, laugh, and drink vodka for hours. It was beautiful and heartwarming. These memories will never leave me. The west and the American people are not enemies of the Russian people. We have no more control over the media narratives or our governments decisions over here than you guys do over there. As far as I'm concerned, all Americans of European decent, all European nations, and Russia are brothers and should stop all this madness. We should all stick together and respect, appreciate, and love one another.
