Putin on nuclear weapons: ‘Threat is growing’ | USA TODAY #Shorts

Russian president Vladimir Putin said that Russia’s nuclear arsenal is a “means of protection” and that the “threat [of nuclear war] is growing” during a meeting with his Human Rights Council.

Russian President Vladimir Putin hailed the disputed annexation of Ukrainian territories Wednesday as a crucial military victory, saying it has made the Sea of Azov an inland sea for Russia. The Sea of Azov borders Ukraine and Russia, but Putin illegally annexed land on Ukraine’s side. Putin, speaking with members of his Human Rights Council, said even Peter the Great fought for access to the sea centuries ago.

And he said the recent sham referendums in the annexed territories proved residents want to be part of Russia. Still, Putin acknowledged the “special military operation” he refuses to call a war “could be a lengthy process.”

Putin dismissed concerns that he would use nuclear weapons in Ukraine, calling them a deterrent. He has said Russia will use “all available means” to protect its territory, including the annexed areas of Ukraine. “We haven’t gone mad,” he said Wednesday. “We are fully aware of what nuclear weapons are.”

  1. I think he just basically said he is going to nuke the shit outa Ukraine. Which would be a horrible mistake… Everyone with family in Ukraine is INTNANTLY going to turn on Putin and become rebels…. Which is the start of them assassinating him..

  2. Power in Russia is concentrated in a few cities that would become a nuclear wasteland, whereas power in the West is spread around the world. Russian people need to stand up and tell Putin, enough with the threats! He's only continuing this war to avoid embarrassment. At some point, the cost for boosting the ego of this guy is not worth the price, not worth the risk.

  3. Russia will use nukes to defend their country? I don't think that using nukes will make Russia safer. The opposite is the case. If Russia strikes, other will strikes too. Terrible things will happen. To everyone. A lot will safer bc of feew….soo wrong…so wrong.

  6. From one of the most powerful army turns into the most disorganized army in the world. From one of the greatest leader of russia turns into the greatest clown leader with no end game but to make his own people die in vain. While his own people deny his greatness and never even know what good he does to his own nation. Putin ego is hurt and no medication can cure it. Today no country is afraid from russia anymore.

  7. Ask a Russian if he wants a missile to enter his house. Ask a Russian if he wants to send missiles on Ukrainian houses. Ask an American if he wants to send missiles on Russian houses. Let me know how many say yes

  11. “Under no Circumstances will Russia strike first.” If this is true then how is the threat growing unless the U.S. is willing to strike first. This is all just Bullshit fear mongering. 🤮

  12. I agree with President Putin said about nuclear weapons should only be used as defensive and not offensively; I personally was no one anywhere including in America had nuclear weapons, but the world is a far cry from peace 🕊️🙏💞

  14. His face and voice when he’s saying “…retaliatory strike” at the end 😮. Since the odds have now ‘increased’ I think that makes the actual odds 1:infinity+3 given that Putin says “…if Russia doesn’t strike first, it won’t strike second either – which I think he intends to infer if it does strike first, then it will also strike second, as Russia can’t be struck. Credit where it’s due, it only took Biden a few days in Office before he went senile, Putin’s been under extreme stress and anxiety for the best part of life, which was the time before he was born.
