  1. Russia got to where it is because the civilian population has been divested of a voice in politics. Some are denied that voice, others gave it up willingly as part of the Kremlin's offer, the terms of which mobilization has effectively broken.
We're fighting the Russian state, not the Russian people. If they don't want to be a part of the Russian State, that can only benefit us, and we should help them.

  2. People are so freakin selfish… It's happening in every european country and it pisses me off. " Stop sending money or equipment to Ukraine it will only prolong the war " Yea i wonder if they would talk the same garbage if they were from Ukraine… " Guys stop sending us stuff its too good and the war isnt stopping "

Brain dead, actually 100% brain dead and this is why we can't have nice things and peace man…

  3. I absolutely support draft dodging. In fact I consider dodging the draft to be a moral imperative. However, I'm not sure if fleeing conscription makes one a refugee under international law. Would any country sign a treaty agreeing that citizens fleeing a legal conscription order is a refugee?

  4. We want as many Russian citizens to leave and not fuel the Russian army as we can – we can do that by encouraging them to run by welcoming them with open arms. We can make the future Russia a better one by showing the fleeing citizens a better civilization.

  5. Reminds me of draft dodgers fleeing to Canada during USA's failed war in Vietnam. I still remember right wingers praising Russia military propaganda ads while bashing America's.

  6. Glad that Vaush brought some nuance into the discussion. I see way too many people saying that the Russians trying to leave should be denied entry because they are all war supporters who are only trying to save their own skins. That if they were anti-war they should be protesting and getting themselves jailed (and drafted anyway). I mean, really?

Imo this blanket Russophobia is only going to strengthen Putin's fascist narrative that the world hates Russians and that NATO is out to bully them and that there is no place that would welcome them except their own country.

  7. Opposing the war is not the same as fleeing the draft. Many, but not all, of these guys were couch warriors who were gung-ho on the war when it was the poor rural guys getting drafted. Now, Germany is dealing with pro-war, anti-Ukraine demonstrations. Let them in when they can demonstrate they were against the war before the mobilization or at least after they take the Z off their cars.

  8. hmm. i vote we let them in but they have to pay for themselves for as long as they have savings, before they get anything given to them by their host countries. i also don't think the hosting countries should be anywhere near the russian borders, central/northern/southern/western europe yes. romania/moldova/eastern poland/the baltic states no. Especially not the baltic states, on account of their tiny populations.

  9. 8:40 you should talk about this issue with someone from a country that has been suffering from Russians for hundreds of years. Your arguments come from a position of theoretical moral high ground. Those russians you are talking about are not fleeing war, they are fleeing mobilization. Baltics accepted people since Feb 24, but you just talk about this isolated case without broader context.
