Putin congratulates Donald Trump ahead of his inauguration

President Putin has congratulated Donald Trump as he prepares to return to the White House, hailing his plans to restore direct contact with Moscow and his efforts to “prevent a third world war”.

“We welcome this attitude and congratulate the elected president of the United States of America on taking office,” Putin said in comments to members of Russia’s national security council ahead of Trump’s inauguration ceremony in Washington. Putin did not congratulate President Biden until six days after his inauguration in 2021.

He also said that Russia was open to dialogue with the Trump administration on the war in Ukraine. Russia has repeatedly warned that western military backing for Kyiv could trigger a nuclear conflict.

  2. Very well said by Putin. Things are looking hopeful. I see a deal being struck in the near future over the conflict, benefitting all sides. Call.Donald Trump.what you want but you can't deny that he is a peacemaker. He is diplomatic and has a way of bringing opposing sides together. I like that about him and also that he speaks his mind, no holds barred. The best of luck to the U.S. with your new president, let's hope he will indeed make America great again,! from the U.K. ❤️

  3. Spoken like a true leader. Russia WANTED to JOIN NATO and WE said no. He just wants respect. And to be taken seriously. I believe we could have a good relationship with Russia.

  4. The root cause ? Well. I commend Putin for his congratulating Trump. He didnt have to. I just hopes he signs a deal of cease fire. Let ukraine have some kind of soverignty. And commit to reopening mother russia back to the rest of the world perhaps? It would be something special if we could all see world peace. And i am sure there is a chance at this. Make peace. For the world, for the future of politics, And most importantly, humanity.

  5. Господин Президент, нам здесь, наверное, понадобятся войска, как в Чехии, некоторые люди хотят переворота, как в 1968 году.

  6. Daddy, stop sending your sons into the so-called "Special Military Operation". You are sending them into Hocus-Pocus, Abracadabra, Simsalabim and 💥 Boom. You are losing the credits the Russian people gave to you in the past. It's nobody's interest to go on the way you are doing now.
