As a guy who uses his Mac laptop for everything, and who often has a drink on my table top – after your mishap, I have made sure to keep the beverage a much safer distance away from my computer. Sorry it happened to you. I hope they can salvage it. Macs are worth every penny as they are better than Windows PCs. But I wouldn't want to pay to have to replace mine either.
This constant barrage of tit for tat is rubbish! This Swiss foreigner is not being investigated for the beach property, that just came along with the main reason he is being investigated, which is for aggressive behavior against a citizen of Thailand! As for Hua Hin's so called beach encroachment, does anyone actually think the city of Hua Hin and a high percentage of its citizens, want to tear down all of these businesses to make a small beach? Do you actually want to use the public land excuse? Could there be a grandfather clause that no one is mentioning here? These businesses, that have been there forever, provide jobs and boost the local economy from tourists and that will out weigh any pipe dream, of a small area of beach! There is miles and miles of beautiful beaches to enjoy north and south, by the public! Remember, unless you have gone through the process of becoming a Thai Citizen, you are a guest and your opinion is not a factor in the affairs of Thailand. It sometime's provides more tension on foreigners here!
It still astounds me, how foreigners come to Thailand to escape where they came from, then turn around and complain about it! You have been in Thailand a long time Tim. Why have you not pursued citizenship, to validate your opinions about the countries affairs?
There seem to be a lot of well-publicized cases of farang behaving badly recently. And well-justified anger. But I hope that other ex-pats will not suffer from this anger, as we are respectful of Thai culture and laws, and appreciate our time in the Kingdom.
One comment on the “no prostitution takes place on Soi 11”, and “no transvestite prostitution. This is the Thai solution. Public prostitution is illegal and doesn’t occur, a position that satisfies conservative Thais. And police turning a blind eye, lets partiers be partiers. Everyone gets what they want (and funds keep flowing), with no loss of face.
When I was in a catholic highschool, the vice principle late 30s were gay. He's very good looking Indian origin and travel back to his country for holiday. When he came back he told a me and my vietnamese friends he stop in Thailand for holiday too. We all know why he was there and he smiling with us too. At the time we were so young we dont know how difficult for gay men to have boyfriend and Australian society dont accept them.

Tim just an aside comment about the Swss steps story. Just had few days in Pattaya trying to walk along the footpaths/sidewalks. Most are occupied by sellers then motorbikes parked at 90 degrees. This means walking almost in centre of road.
Police found now prostitution in the Nana dstrict! hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha! Must have been the same investigative team that looked and found that there was no prostitution going on in Pattaya.
