Proposed deals to stop migrants 'will not work as deterrent', says shadow home secretary



Chris Philp, the new shadow home secretary, speaks on Sunday Morning With Trevor Phillip about migrants continuing to cross the English Channel.

The government is contemplating paying countries like Vietnam and Kurdistan in a deal to keep migrants away from Britain, Trevor Phillips asks if the conservatives would support such a deal.

He said, ‘We’d support any plan which cuts or stops the illegal crossings over the English Channel’.

  1. Why are they complicating it with Rwanda schemes etc that cost millions. The solution is as simple as stopping benefits, free healthcare, housing and free hotel stays. They will soon stop coming. It really is that simple 🤷

  2. You had 14 years to nip this in the bud but failed miserably that’s why your not in charge of the country anymore. Nobody’s going to believe your waffle about any new policies, promises are broken and the people are fed up
